Honestly the ML isn't the worst but he's not fit to be a male lead. What I'm trying to understand is all these concubines and an empress and this guy is still somehow hasn't gotten with any of them even through abuse of power. Is he asexual or something.
That aside I would feel bad for the female lead if she wasn't a play girl before meeting the ML lead. I think the author wanted to give the FL punishment with some sort of bad karma thing going on, and that's why she's in this situation but it was half baked.
She never really has to worry about the emperor do anything beyond handholding with his favorite concubine whose character is a bit unstable.
She seemed to be going in one direction writing wise but for the sake of the story becoming more "dark" it seems she's going a more generic route.
I kid you not the emperors only purpose is to be a thirst trap. The FL lead has a better chance with dating the assassins trying to kill her then this eight year old stuck in the body of a grown man.
The chapters went on for so long that the FL forgot she was trying to get her body back. That's not something you just forget especially if the body type is way different then your previous.
At first it seem like the main characters are falling in love but then I started thinking the FL lead had a habit of going from one guy to the next, all this focus on one guy is draining her.
She only seems to put in so much effort for the empress who possessed the body before her, of course what reason would she have to do that? It's not like she knew her personally. The main assassins seem to know more about the female leads situation then any other characters she bothers wasting her time with. This manwha tries to build tension on having us believe we should worry for the FL leads safety because she's in the wrong body and time period but then it's hard to do that when the female lead treats it like a vacation. It's not like the life she had before was some sort of luxury but she seems shallow and a bit sexiest as she doesn't seem to see men as for more than dating.
She's hilarious I'll give her that but so much more could have been done with a character like her.
That is to say usually we get heroines who struggle with dating or are new to it. This heroine is not in a relationship not because she has trouble getting a date but she gets bored easily. Whether the guys she was with were serious about their relationship or she could see right through them we'll never truly know.
This female leads character type would usually be an experienced older sister type to a main character giving bad dating advice or would be some kind of rich villain.
But instead she's in a story that had an interesting start but just gets lazier. I am aware that this is based off the novel and I've only seen bad news. This may or may not continue but one things for sure you're wasting your time if you're hoping for "romance". Flirting at most and no real character development. Too much time was spent on side characters who were a much smaller part of the story.
Lyn the concubine "sudden might have jealous feelings for the ML" although the first 50 chapters I was sure her character was going in a different direction. Since this was pre-written I'm going to assume the artist was told to be misleading with her character to attract certain audiences and trap them.
Funny thing is I usually avoid historical, but I like comedy so I gave it a try.
Honestly I don't feel like this is worth rating, it's not a zero but it's most definitely not a ten. I was completely entertained, wasn't bored so that's why I have a hard time giving it a bad rating but at the same time it's not enough to keep me from noticing what's completely wrong in the story.
I think the issue is the lazy writing. The heroine is smart enough to understand her situation but as the story goes on she can only do so much without the emperor's power. She is limited and that's the problem. She can only rely on side characters to make a move so she can eventually make her move. Other then that there's just peace and weak drama.
