Well ...

Humans reset to the bottom of the food chain when wildlife starts evolving because of some unknown global climate change. The novel is centered around the main character Luo Yuan, who has "the gamer" trait (attributes, quests..etc) due to some accident prior to the apocalypse, and as such learns to adapt to the new chaotic environment quicker than others. The main character however, is by no means OP (although he has an exponential growth rate which may eventually make him OP), he does struggle with many creatures he encounters, it is just the plot armor that is keeping him alive. Luo Yuan's character is not without faults and yet he himself is unaware of them, convincing himself to be "good" or reasonable; he is not a good leader but an average man with whims and preferences (he has a harem). Character development is very minor, using "evolution" as an excuse to overcome psychological struggles. This novel begins with the hardships of Luo Yuan while maintaining a struggling society throughout the series, and gradually moves forward with a mysterious vibe of unusual wildlife and phenomenon. The translation is decent and the story is average, with nothing exceptional to note. Overall this is a good in-between read for those craving for some apocalyptic action. Enjoy!
