There are a lot of people who are upset about the neglect that this family show the baby and they're right to be - but this story is so much more than that.

I think that is missing the whole premise of this story though because ignorance is not bliss. Everyone in this story is getting a harsh reality check.

That prestigious family know no other way to be than the way that they are - stuck in a vacuum of space with people who think exactly like them. Does that make it right? No, but everyone has argued with someone knowing that stubborn and obstinate person is never going to change. That is what this family is, they are the people that need to change and they need to realise it... Some people go through their WHOLE lives and never change or grow from what they were indoctrinated to believe.

MC is no different to them, she killed indiscriminately and allowed others around her to kill without caring about anything but what she wanted. What the family did to her was forgivable because her life before them was so much worse. She often thinks about or talks about how she grew up in a kill or be killed world. She has no morals or care for anything but this family challenges her core beliefs and shake the foundation of existence she had built her life around.

I love this story - because it is two broken people/ideals clashing and creating something semi-normal. It speaks to family and what it is to be human with flaws and growing to be a better person by surrounding yourself with people.

It’s refreshing that the family didn’t fell in love at her immediately (well, except the cousin and gradually the grandpa), i know some readers hated the family because they neglect her as a baby… I agree about that, but as I’m reading the manhwa it just feels like, you know that the author intended to give them that kind of personalities and that they are not hated characters you know? At the start they just want her to be alive (not sure with the uncle tho they want him to give an evil impression to readers), it was also stated that the uncle isn’t even close with his siblings, they’re unnecessarily rich so I imagine they just let fl live and just mind their own business. The relationship between the uncle and fl baby is getting good especially on the latest chapters, again, it’s refreshing that the uncle didn’t immediately fell in love with her cuteness but he has to get to know her before they make a connection.

So I’m reading this with open mind, if you read the manhwa it just feels like the family are very traditional. Anyway, there’s probably an explanation for that and I hope the author gives an exceptional tragic story for that.

A somewhat clever Female Lead trying to survive, usually by using wits, magic and manipulation.

The problem lies in the fact it keeps trying to 'redeem' or justify awful characters that abandoned, neglected, betrayed, threatened, confined...

So it ends up a (3+1) / 10 for being convoluted and infuriating with +1 for an interesting Protagonist.

Was disgusted when I read the novel spoilers about the way they treated this baby, the poor thing was starved on purpose and with broken bones just because her mom wasn’t up to the family’s standard. a BABY. I feel sorry for her father that died, knowing that the uncle and grandfather didn’t care at all about his baby until she started to show signs of magic (only because a grown ass magician took over the baby’s body). The mc had no right to forgive the family on behalf of the original baby and I don’t like how the author made the abuse so jokey. I was frustrated the whole time reading.

Translation team did well by translating their family into clown.
