Not like the other tower leveling manhwas

A lot of people on the forums dislike the manga because of the plot armor, how the MC can’t really be defeated. And they complain that it has a slow start, or drags through the action when it could be as fast-paced as solo leveling is.

But they’re completely missing the point of WHY this manga is so different. Confucius’ character arc goes from wanting to vanquish, to wanting to heal. He himself is vanquished when he first gains his powers and he understands in that moment how terrifying and sad of an end that is. It enrages him to the point of seeking retribution for not only himself, but for the others wronged by the same person.

And that is what truly defines his character arc. He wants to make things right, even at great personal sacrifice. He could simply kill the level boss to clear the level. But he doesn’t, he changes the course of that story. And in order to help people overcome their trauma and actually heal, he has to understand them completely. That takes time. It’s such a beautiful journey with each and every level he ascends to.

I thought it was going to be a funny manga, with a lot of irreverent humor. And there are moments of that, but it goes so deep into the exploration of the nature of suffering, the purpose of it. I’m so excited for when season 4 drops. It probably won’t be until next year but I am READY. This storyline is going to be incredible.

not an engaging start

Not an easy story to like at the beginning. This story might interest you if you like Tower tropes, gloomy characters, gamefication AND if you have the patience and time on your hand to keep soldering on until you become familiar enough with the characters to feel attached to the story, because the premise and plot itself is nothing new or done particularly well. Also, the MC is unlikeable.

Chapter zero is cool with the animated art, GIFs, but from chapter one to twenty four, where I dropped the story, I can't say the manwha is engaging. The protagonist is literally someone sick with jealously, with a gloomy personality, and the premise of him killing himself to become more Powerful is just... Not for me. The story progression makes everything seems at there same time both too easy and too mentally damaging. Which is not a fun combination for a reader because there is no satisfaction and also weirdly enough almost no struggle.

I can't see myself dedicating more time to a gloomy story like this. I don't think killing random video games creatures is enough to make a story interesting. I recommend reading only if you are a fan of the tower climbing trope.

One of My Favorite Series - I Dream to Own a Physical Copy of It!

SSS-Class Revival Hunter is an amazing web series that I am currently infatuated with. It is a RPG System comic with one character who is essentially OP in comparison to everyone else, and in the start you are investing in quite a bit without clarity of the whole situation, however, if you like OP RPG System comics, I would definitely try the first volume (40 chapters).

I personally feel like the first volume is the main character's rise to power, and how that changes his perspective and from what he was dealing with to what he is dealing with now. However, unlike other series of this kind, when the MC goes into the tower, instead of his interactions being apart of his story, he is immersed in the story of each level. The way this series shifts perspective and tells the story of the worlds that Confucius visits is an amazing feat and each location does feel like its own world with rules and laws that follow. I feel like certain tags withing the series can change depending on the floor or arc the character is in, and that too is very enticing to me.

If you do not like overpowered characters, this definitely might not be the read for you as
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
he has the ability to copy people's power when he is killed by them, can see a portion of their memories, and has the ability to go back in time (these two are the main ones the story starts off with) and as he proceeds there are additional skills that he gets through encountering powerful enemies and opponents.

My regards to the other feedback (their opinion is valid, no one has to like or agree everything, but these are my takes on it)

1. He should be insane if he has killed himself or died countless time.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
In my opinion the MC is not completely sane, but their concept of insanity might be vastly different than my own. Someone doesn't have to be a raging lunatic to be insane. The plea of insanity in legal systems are not defined by specific conditions, and insanity is dependent upon who is claiming it. The second part to this is that he has died, by his hands or others, thousands of times, so he should be insane. Well, to a person who cannot die, death is simply a means to an end, if he can die, he can go back 24 hours in time and solve the problem he was having. So rather than looking at it from a finite human perspective you essentially have to look at it from a infinite entity perspective. Even in the series, the MC is slowly becoming something other than what can be measure in human means.

2. He has plot armor.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Absolutely he does, and if this is something that bothers you, you might want to discard this series. But if you like well written stories, and can stomach it, I would give it a go.

3. The MC is a good character (Morally).
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I quite disagree with this. I feel like the MC would be ranked as more of an anti-hero with a penchant for tolerance because he cannot die. Essentially, if he wanted to, he could be the apocalypse of his own world. Also you notice that some of the logic that the MC relies on is questionable at best in some areas. However, he makes for a very interesting character.

No idea why this gets a pass from so many people, but this entire manhwa is just filled with plot armor. The MC can't die, can rewind time whenever he wants, he gets everything he needs just handed to him, and somehow manages to stay sane after going through the pain of killing himself and dying thousands of times. It's a game world so all the drama is forced and utterly pointless in the long run because the tower characters aren't real. Speaking of it being a game world, the setting is completely half-assed and left unexplained for most of the manhwa. Half-assed intros of characters so even 20+ chapters in you will barely know anything about anyone, even the MC.

Just another trasha manhwa in a long and growing list of trash manhwa. I'm jealous of all these people here reviewing that are so easily pleased over garbage.

easy 10

By far the best tower climb manhwa, easily surpassing all and the original solo leveling.

A very likeable MC, one of the self-sacrifical, silent hero types. High degree of empathy, and a very easy cry at many points for those with weaker tear ducts like myself. Not lacking in intelligence, but he has persistence in spades

A beautiful story that balances action, emotion, and comedy, and art that steps it up to incredible levels when it suits the moment, yet keeping it pleasantly easy on the eyes when in the less intense moments.

Something worth noting is that the nature of the plot puts mc into different genres of story, like a martial realm manhua, a shoujo romance, etc. And with how well written and well drawn this manhwa is, they go beyond the level of a typical setting that merely parodies a genre, instead adopting its themes into the story, yet still preserving the core character ideals and plot. And it's done masterfully, with clear care and attention paid to each genre, at times satirizing, at other times embracing, yet fluid and artful even as it combines the two with the main plot. Also, it's not necessary to be familiar with a genre to enjoy this story's depictions of them, but there are minor details spread throughout that those more familiar with martial realms, for instance, will appreciate.

Only 2 mangas/manhwa have ever made me immediately bookmark the novel to read: This and bakemonogatari.

Surprisingly I didn't think I would be into tyes because of the fact that you have to at this point at least has no consequences anything bad happens the lead has to just kill himself and turn back time. That being said it is still very emotional and well written for such an OP power. The author does very well and the art is good. I would suggest trying it out

I can't get over how great arc 3 was
by MatrixM

Reviewed at ch 92:

Ok, so taking Floor 1-10 as one arc (even though it kind of has 3 different plot threads one after the other), what would be arc 3 is simply amazing. On it's own a clear and unequivocal 10/10
But I'm getting ahead of myself.

The series starts with a not unheard of gimmick/power that's established within one or two chapters, so we're getting most of the basics out of the way fast, which is good when the premise isn't so unique.

Main criticism I had while reading the opening chapters was how the MC picks a task and guns directly for that instead of biding his time and slowly taking power, but, in-retrospect, this actually was probably the safest decision long-term.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
As he eliminates the only main threat to his existence before any suspicion can come to him

Really my thinking he was making mistakes was possibly because I understood the main gimmick but not the wider world. (and a couple mistakes early on is acceptable, this guy is basically untrained and inexperienced at high level encounters)
Arc 1 ends with the first hints of how this story can tug on your heart, but up to here is basically still prologue

From arc 2 things kick off and we get more of those heart tugs. There's one sequence of panels that was particularly memorable and instantly made one of characters Best Girl (though our MC is not interested in romance at present). It also has our main character start to use his abilities to clear floors and handle the social/political component in a way I didn't expect and makes me question his long-term sanity, so that was refreshing in its own way.

Arc 3 starts as incredibly goofy funny. I was laughing thinking how ridiculous it was all of a sudden....by the end of it I had cried multiple times. It developed a character so well, with empathy being a major theme and I really hope the ideas developed here carry on throughout the story. It was the first time I was simply blown away by what this series and reminded of what this setting can do.

(review to be edited/refined later, I'm hungry atm)

Impressive but gets weird sometimes

The story is top tier, The Art is top tier and even the MC is top tier at first you would think he is stupid and selfish but turns out he is one of the kindest characters later on but if it is going to follow the original novel it would get a little weird not bad just weird and mostly the mc and story a little bit by bit because of that specially or specifically in the race arc where mc gets attached to goblins way too much which we got glimpse in the beginning I don't know about me or you but Goblin Slayer definitely won't like it and kill him for being a freakin Gawblin I am just thinking what will MC think of goblins after sewing freaking disgusting gawblins through Goblin Slayer's point of view if the crossover happened, If it wasn't for novel I would have given it 10 because uptill Love Novel Arc It's So Damn Good if you find got good scans then you would enjoy it like me because Ashura scans takes sometimes time to understand!
