It’s hard to be in high school, especially when you live in the shadow of your stunningly attractive older brother. It only gets worse when the really cute guy from the class next to yours starts hanging around your house, presumably to catch a glimpse of said older brother.
But things are not always as they seem! Kotori is often teased for being superficial, and with a brother like Kujaku, you can’t really blame him for thinking that looks are everything. However, once Akaiwa steps into his life, Kotori is heading for a lesson in deep trust and abiding love.

First read a long time ago and never got to finish it. I'm glad I got the chance to get this volume.
Kotori is so cute! I really like the character designs and story. The oneshots at the end surprised me a bit because the styles are so different, but they were alright.

An amazing start and it loses a bit later on

The feelings I have for this mess of a manga are... eternal. It is probably the most re-read manga among my favorite ones. This is a complete one, 3 volumes.
Plot: Akaiwa is a popular and handsome student, while Kotori is really not. Kotori is quite plain, and has a bunch of self esteem issues, also because his older brother is amazingly handsome and quite popular, the opposite of him.
One day, Akaiwa starts to court Kotori, and hang out with him, and of course, Kotori thinks it's because Akaiwa surely wants to spend time with his older brother (that is usually what happens). This misunderstanding ends up pretty quickly, and soon Kotori finds out that Akaiwa wants to spend time with him and court him.
The manga has a great start! It is fluff, soft and adorable, with a lot of the classic first love troubles, and it is absolutely safe for work (it is a shounen ai). Secondary characters are also quite prominent, like for example Kotori's brother and his best friend, both having interactions with Kotori. It's just... this manga has such positive relationship and such a light nice feeling to it.
Volume 2... mysteriously adds supernatural elements, that suddenly clash a bit with the general slice of life feeling of the first part of the manga. The supernatural elements add some adventure, while the relationship between Kotori and Akaiwa strenghten
Volume 3 returns to its slice of life track with some weird time travel element, which makes the supernatural adventure of volume 2 and the slice of life of volume 1 even weirder, and still, it is a lovely read, full of fluff and feelings.
The end felt complete, but I definitely wish it had been a more coherent read!

The story was good but it was sort of all over the place. It was entertaining and I really liked the characters it was just the plot that got me. There was a few things that came up that in the story were small but seemed like they should have expanded on more. It was good to past the time but it could have been better. I enjoyed it none the less but I would have liked a little more, especially about the brother.
On a side note, there were a few one-shots that came in that I didn't know were there and threw me off when they just appeared. They were OK but nothing special and a bit weird. I found the first one just plain odd; I never really knew what was happening. The last one was interesting but things seemed to happen for no reason.
Overall the main story was good just could do without the extras.

when I read the comments about this manga before downloading it, I expected to feel bored and exhausted after reading it but it turned out quite a good one. I don't deny the negative points which have been mentioned in the previous comments completely but I believe those are not really that trouble some. if you spend more time for paying attention to the characters and story, you may quite enjoying the playful style of the writer. for me, it was a witty, happy story with over all cute characters. not very deep, neither very developed, some thing simple and yet interesting.
and about those supernatural elements in the plot line, yes, I ado agree that those were kind of unexpected, rushed and raw but still were able to change the mood from a school life romance into some thing more interesting and give some freshness to this simple plot line.
if you are not that picky and don't expect to read a master piece, give it a try and I am sure you will enjoy it.

ok..maybe not totally, but does suck. The art is cute, it starts on an okay note, perhaps promising plot and then for some reason it turns into random oneshots. Totally deviates from the original main characters basically. And when it comes back to the main characters, it still goes off in a weird direction, that have NO relation to ANYTHING!! And the mangaka introduces some ppl (like the older brother) that could make the story even more interesting but she leaves it hanging like in a brainstorm. So, basically, this manga is totally incomplete, random, and a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME!!!!

This was actually a pretty good series. The art was so so but I really enjoyed the story, it was very good. The first volume in my opinion was by far the best and one of my favorites, the second, while still good, was getting a little weird. During the second volume the mangaka started to randomly throw in supernatural elements that really confused me. By the third book I was just down right confused and the end annoyed me alot, so it was by far the worst (I won't give anything away, it's probably better to read it).
On top of this, there are further things about this series that I find annoying, plot elements that might seem important are not even mentioned later on. Just as an example, a shocking secret at the end of the first book revealed about the main characters brother seems important for later on in the series, but is not even mentioned.
hmmm... I seemed to have ranted on for more than I intended. Overall, I'd recommend this book to anyone, but prepare to be a little bit dumbfounded, I certainly was.
