Great novel to read, and it'll take a month+ to finish it

Not a gamer, but I still enjoy this novel. This story makes me learn about the esports world and I think the novel did its job teaching me about it, especially the characters in the game and the type of attacks. Storyline is not predictable and I'm glad it's not. It gives a more realistic feel rather than just instant-faceslap any characters you hate (face slapping will make the fans happy, but doesn't necessarily help drives the character development and story)

I'm the process of reading the novel again because it's really good writing, but that'll take another month. I recommend people to have another window for wiki because there are many characters/in-game character that could me confusing. The wiki will help remind/explain the character so you won't constantly get lost. But be careful spoilers because it's wiki, so you can just make notes in a notepad instead.

I also recommend people to watch the anime and read the manga first because visuals help a lot when trying to remember who's who.

Not sure about those "1"s, I'm not a gamer but I like this story

I don't get the ones this story has been given, seems kind of shallow to me, since nobody gave an actual reason for them.
Anyway, I have never played an MMORPG, so a lot of the mechanics of the game are lost on me, but I still find the story overall enjoyable. Honestly it has a great main character, so even though I know almost nothing about the culture and mechanics of being an MMORPG player/fan, the fact that the main character is interesting keeps me wanting more.

So, in short, you don't have to be a gamer to enjoy this story.

I love it, is funny, has action, interesting characters without the usual absolutely evil and good labels....It really is balanced and keeps your interest high. I would like a little bit more romance but....so what? Is still a really really good novel to read!

My thoughts! Super addicting!

In my opinion, this novel is super super good and I love it a lot! It's different from the typical Wuxia/Xianxia novels. If you're looking for OP mc with a lot of luck, messy romance + harem or tremendous power ups, then this is NOT the novel you're looking for. However, if you're looking for a smart, op mc with pure skills and experience, smart mouth, a super mild but super sweet romance/friendship(?), action and lots of funny and memorable moments, wide variety of characters, and more wonderful stuff then this is the RIGHT novel for you!! biggrin

Reasons to read:
1) The MC is a one of a kind MC, you'll probably never see another MC like him anywhere else. He is shameless (in a good way). He is the type of person that seems to be a carefree genius but there's more to him than that. He is the type of person that will resolve conflicts with his extreme shamelessness, the type of person to make friends with his enemies instead of raging on them. Overall, he is charming and unique.

2) The friendship/bromance. There's A LOT of characters, with most of them being guys. They each have their own distinct and lovable personalities. By bromance, I don't mean BL or anything but the pure friendship between the characters. Though, I can't help but ship several characters together...Okay back to the topic, if I have to compare this novel with another piece of work, I would say Haikyuu!, Kuroko No Basuke, Prince of Tennis etc...for those anime/manga fans and also One Piece in some ways...

3) The PLOT. Basically the story is about MC trying to reclaim his position as the top, people saying he is old and outdated but BOOM guess what? People, you're wrong!! Imagine, a god level pro player playing in a normal server with normal players?!! Not just any god level player, but the "former" BEST player acknowledged by all PLUS with his shamelessness/trolling, the whole server is probably gonna be on their knees. Ofc, the plot might be kinda slow since its like 1700+ chaps but hey there's a lot of character development, plot development, interesting aspects, comedy moments, touching moments and background infos!!! I enjoy all of these!

4) IT'S GONNA HAVE AN ANIME ADAPTATION!!! 7TH APRIL 2017 IS THE DAY! It alr has a manhua adapation~

5) EYECANDYEYECANDYEYECANDY HAHAH I just have to add this sorry guys,,,Based on the PV for the upcoming adaptation, I can tell my eyes will be blessed >.>

6) Once again, THE MC. Although manipulative, smart and shameless, he has ethics.

Things to note:

1) I know a huge ton of people prefer the novel to be about VR instead of computer and mouse? But hey!!! Even though supreme skill like the MC's isn't really very realistic in terms of normal MMORPG games but it is definitely not a down point of the novel. Just treat it as an AU!

If you play any multiplayer online games at all...

If you play any MMO or competitive multiplayer online games at all, this novel will be pretty inspirational. Much more realistic in current world tech, and very reflective of real world multiplayer personalities .. from the griefer trolls to regular newbs who just want to enjoy a game. Very technical mastery of the game, not just some dumb MC who gains an overwhelming skill. I'm more surprised a korean author didn't write this given how big e-sports is over there.

Does not deserve the 1-ratings at all...

This is about a fallen pro e-sports player crawling his way back up to the pro league from scratch.

This is a gaming novel based around an MMO, not a VRMMO novel. So you will not find the like gajillion different fantasy settings of something like Legend of the Moonlight Sculptor.

But what you will find is amazing, freaking hilarious, and memorable character interaction like no other. You will meet tons of characters from each e-sports team, and you will remember them because they have unique personas, and they have depth. I can't praise the characters enough in this series. It's just hilarious, so even though the plot progression moves slowly, you enjoy each chapter.

At the same time, the author reels us back in with a touch of melancholy every so often. The author really subtly but strongly emotes the sadness of becoming irrelevant in the gaming scene and of growing older. It's like "AHAHAHA....oh god ... that really makes me sad."

You will get well-written, in-depth descriptions about keyboard movements and skill combinations ... because this is about an e-sports game, after all, and it accentuates all the action scenes very well. It's so detailed that you can imagine each action of the fight, which really gets my blood pumping for action scenes.

All in all, this is an AMAZING series, and DO NOT miss out on it just because misleading ratings.

It's not for those that expect and only demand MCs that play RPG games and develop overwhelmingly cheat abilities.

But if you want MCs with a smart mouth and the thickest skin you've ever encountered, this is your story.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Damn, that press conference after they won the right to enter the professional league with his new team, and his final words to the reporters were: 'I'm back.'
That was cool. :D

Denying this novel with the reason of "no virtual reality" is such bullsh*t...

Denying this novel with the reason of "no virtual reality" is such bullsh*t...
There are many categories within the genre of "gaming"/"esports", and not everything has to be fancy with virtual reality stuff like <1/2 prince> or w/e to be a good story.
I read the whole novel in Chinese, went over it later for more than 3 times XD
<Quan Zhi Gao Shou> shows a game kinda like WOW, the old-school MMORPG, but somehow with a fantasy kind of feel to it, since the keyboard combinations and minute operational details are simply unrealistic.
People who follows the Esports scene of WOW, LOL, DOTA2 etc will probably resonate with this novel. Most of the characters aren't "larger-than-life", besides their skill in gaming they are just common people, living in a common world, under common Esports regulation and management, just like the current Esports scene. As someone who has been into LOL and its related events for many years, the correlation and resonance between the novel and reality just make me feel kind of bitter sweet.
Hu Die Lan (the author) has a problem with showing characters' emotional development, so some of the early dialogues may feel quite awkward, but it gets better with time, so does the story. Towards the ending there were too much fighting scenes, too much description of them, I think that's the only problem I have with this novel XD.
I love YeXiu so much, smart, humorous, hard-working, doesn't put his talent into waste, and always stays composed.
I like the upright attitude the author holds, always gets me into tears to see how much effort each and everyone of the characters had to put forth, showing that it's not all about luck and talent. How Wang JieXi sacrificed himself to bring out a new talent onto the stage, how aging takes its toll on Han WenQing, how Ye Xiu who disregards money the most had to keep the team running, how Fang Rui won the game at the expense of his hand, how Mo Fan turned around to save Ye Xiu and broke out of his solidarity.
Anyway, really liked this novel, it has depth, one of the best web-novels regarding MMORPG games in recent years.

No Virtual Reality

That's reason enough to be a turn-off for me. It would've been nice had it been something like ZL or TMS but without the harem (that's why I dropped those two) ...but no, instead this is just about some dude playing the game like we play WOW or LoL.
No Virtual Reality, nothing interesting. Boring

Superb Action Packed Novel

I must say the the translators did an excellent job in translating this novel. This is a novel that had the best combat, best action scenes, and most excitement of out all the novels I've read. Its very surprising because most novels usually can't illustrate fast moving action as well as other mediums. But this novel - it has such a rich detailed account of every action, every movement during the scenes that it allows the readers to easily imagine the moves in their heads.

Even more amazing is that, you've got to remember, this was originally in Chinese and not English. Its not easy been able to write so well even if it was originally in English, but doing it while crossing the language barrier... it's just amazing.

Major props to the translators for been able to translate so well.
