I could have loved this story but the ending made me hate it.

The story would've been awesome if they didn't screw up Akira's character and the ending. Seriously, everything else was on point – the setting, the sapphic characters, and the overall plot were all wickedly interesting and fun. But damn, they really dropped the ball with Akira.

Akira, the main character, was totally coded as a transgender girl trying to navigate a world dominated by cisgender girls, specifically in the Troupe. But for some reason, the author had a different agenda. Instead of letting her embrace her true self and delivering a powerful message about the struggles trans women face in cis-dominated spaces, they turned her into a "boy disguised as a girl" who went to insane lengths like self-castration just to get into the Troupe. It's messed up and reinforces harmful stereotypes.

The real villains should've been the teacher and those crazy girls hunting down a hidden "boy" in a space that's supposed to be for girls. I mean, that's a real issue trans women deal with in the real world. But nope, they totally missed the mark with that one.

And let's not even start on the ending. They straight-up ignored all the important stuff they set up in the previous chapters, including those revealing flashbacks of "Akira's" past, and made the whole story pointless and nonsensical. And to make things worse, they randomly brought back a character out of thin air, like, what the hell?

Honestly, I can't in good conscience recommend this manga to anyone because of how they mishandled Akira's character and completely screwed up the ending. It's a shame 'cause it had so much potential.
