It truly was fascinating...

U can see the fragility of the kings nature, he was just too innocent for this world!
He felt too much, he loved too much! and every time he god tricked or his enemies wanted to finish him, he didn't felt hate or anger!, he just felt disappointed! of the world and humans in general! cause we all know that we are a really mean race above the earth!, and that just killed his poor heart little by little...the dessapointment just grew and grew bigger!
Is just so tragic that something soo beautiful had ended that way..
I don't think anyone truly understood him, cause he was just like a thin butterfly with pretty colours, that u try to cage for your own amusement, and see those pretty colours all day long...
But it is, as it is... with everything that is delicate in this world...without air or freedom, they became suffocated an die.. they're simply too fragile to survive on this world..
And cause of that he just couldn't love anyone! cause it's SUCH a strong feeling for people like him, who feel too much every emotion!, cause they feel like just the thought, ONLY the thought of loosing that loving someone it's devastating..just too much of a despair to be able to live!.
That's why they prefer just shut everyone away and don't let anyone stay close or get under their skin... i also think that that is the safe thing to do..
Aand that's what's really frustrating for the people right beside them, who are trying to help!...just too frustrating!, he just shut's in his own sorrow and everyone just break theyr heads trying to think of a way! SOMETHING! to help!, but we can't help someone who doesn't wants to be saved..
just tragic really, and i loved it.... every part of the story..
As tragic!, and awful, and beautiful as it was...

This piece is incredibly thought provoking. It's essentially the history of Ludwig II told through the frame of Wagner's Lohengrin with allusions to Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam and the Bible.

Ludwig II's flirtations with the arguably divine Lohengrin reflects the affection Wagner's Elsa holds for her dream-lover, Lohengrin, over her "waking" lover, Frederick--or in the case of this manga, Hornig. Torn between discarding his dreams and falling to a harsh reality--Ludwig II is shown prophecies of the Third Reich from the omniscient Lohengrin--with his beloved Hornig or remaining innocent, Ludwig II is caught between lovers amidst a background of political upheaval and betrayal.

What made this series memorable to me is probably the angst, since Ludwig II was a very complicated character full of psychological struggles and mystery, which made his relationship with Hornig all the more interesting, although there were times when I really felt bad for Hornig and admired his dedication.

I didn't know anything about Ludwig II when I first read this, so I didn't know how the plot was going to unfold at all. Overall, I thought it was a really touching story and it kept my attention from start to finish.

Really great manga

Well, I am interested in Ludwig II a bit more, he's one of my favourite historical persons and I have read several books about him, so the biggest fault of this wonderful manga is, I think, that it was a little too overstuffed with all that historical setting, so people who don't know the details may get confused. There are really nice hints but it depends if one can appreciate them. However, there is above all a really catching love story, so romantic and sad, with strong psychological line. Hornig was nicely portraied in that way and I liked him a lot. Ludwig's life was interesting as it already was and in the manga there were pointed the right moments - I could find there what I like about him, mostly the fascinating world of his dreams. And I really liked the way how the story was told, with the dramatic moments and nice drawings. The yaoi scenes were delicate but definitely not offensive, so don't worry about that part smile I am giving ten points cause it has left a deep impact on me but it's a highly subjectiv opinion smile
