I was so into this. Loved both characters. Thought the evolution of their relationship was fun and interesting. But that ending, like what? I wasn't expecting it to be that. There wasn't a set up to it. Why did it go so dark/manipulative? Like, I like it, but warn a person (aka set that shit up properly). No set up makes my rating very difficult to figure out. I really liked it up to that point and would have recommend it, but now it all of a sudden has to be recommend to people who have that niche. I like manipulative characters IF I know that that's what they are while reading, not only at the end that then recontextualizes the whole story. Unless I just missed it the "hints" at it... who knows.
