actually i just read this on whim. but it turned out it's totally good that i ended up marathon it in 2 days. lol.
the plot is very fun and amusing. the conflict is not too heavy so it's very nice as light and pleasant reading. the characters are lovable too, maybe even the villains.
in other series, some dense characters ended up as annoying and stupid characters. but not in this case. the Queen of Hearts is dense and a kind of idiot but seeing her antics makes me laugh all the time. good thing the author doesn't drag her denseness too much. or it will be very boring and annoying. and the ikemens are lovable too. their dark sides make the story interesting and enjoyable. what, you think the prince whose gentleness is his only redeeming trait is interesting? well, nope. i prefer the prince whose is gentle and yet knows exactly how to 'clean the garbage'. a bit manipulative is also good.
i'm not a big fan of otome games though i've played some. but i totally like this novel and its depiction of otome game.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
i love when one of the characters said that the heroince of the game is four-timing. lol you got my respect, Author-san. that's exactly my view of the heroines of otoge till now XD

Cute, comfy and occasionally exciting, this LN is one of the best reincarnation-in-a-fantasy-world I've read thus far, and would probably also be one of the best reincarnation-in-a-VN-game-world stories if I had bothered to read those.

Even if you don't care for otome games or shoujo, it's well-worth looking at.

The writing craft of the original author shines through, and the translation by Oniichanyamete is almost professional. There are no huge infodumps, more show than tell and reasonable dialogue. The text is *readable*, for which I am really thankful, compared to most other LN translations.

The characters are likeable enough that you care about them, and though they're probably OP if you thought about it, it's not flaunted and measured and hammered on enough to make it unlikeable or 'Ary Stue-y. The story is not about power levels.

Instead, it is mostly romance and character-driven, but there is also plot, neither of which dominate too much the other.

This is one of the rare reincarnation stories that does not end up forming a harem. While I have no issue with harems themselves, many of the harem light novels reeks of wish fulfillment with the protagonists acting as author avatars. In some cases, the harem feels tacked on just for the hell of it.

In this case, the story switches frequently between viewpoints of various characters, giving the story a constant stream for fresh perspectives. While often focused on romantic relationships, it is equally if not more focused on bloody political intrigue.

That said, it is very much a light read most of the time due to the antics of the main female protagonist, the Queen of Hearts(QoH). One of the biggest draws of the story is seeing how the characters are changed as a result of the changes in the QoH, often with hilarious results. Swordmen become wizards, noblemen turn into perverts and people get pregnant.

Hmm... That didn't come out quite right. Oh well. In any case, this is as solid of a reincarnation story as you are going to find. If you don't like this one, then the genre just isn't for you.

As a fan of otoge games I put this novel on my wish list. But it took a while before I gave it a real try. After linnil`s comment I actually started it and it was much better than what I expected. I thought that there will be love meters, stats, what not... the annoying elements in the otaku in fantasy world novels type. It turned out to be just a cute story for the lives of a couple of beshoujos and beshounens. Not a bad thing at all biggrin Yea, there is nothing exceptional aside of the otoge setting but it has very fun approach. The interactions are lovely and the characters - cute. I love how my biggest complain is how dense the MC is portrait.

I really like the heroine in this one, she's a little dense but a good cute girl that you can't seem to hate.

At first, I almost think that this will be leading to a reverse-harem setting but surprisingly it's a faithful concrete love interest. Only one love interest for the heroine by this far. (I read to the 17 chapters.)

And I like the male-lead too, if I must be speaking of. He's a manipulate-guy who like to lead people around with some benefit in mind. He surprisingly go well with the not thinking of anything around her at all heroine. Their love is pretty much cute. You can say I like this main couple.

And as the story go on, it reveal another romance of some other rival girl with main guy in each route of an otome game. With some political in it, it is a cute and exciting story.
