We are at 200 chapters and the plot just repeats itself, there has been no progress at all for like 70 chapters, just pure money milking.

One character can't save the whole manga

I've read up to chapter 42 and I can take no more.

In the beginning, it was not that bad. I mean, I disliked Kazuya since the very first chapters, but I decided to read on. And it was just getting worse and worse.
The protagonist was so, so unlikeable. So full of shit. And his relationships with the three girls... He treated Chizuru badly, for example:

- she was taking his side when his ex was talking bad things about him, even if she doesn't need to, and Kazuya was like "yeah, whatever" and didn't even go after her when she went out, even though he should because technically they were still dating

he was strictly using her, all the time promising to end up things between them, but then pushing her to help him out again and again; yes, he was paying her, but he was also overusing her help

he was like "for her sake, for her sake" all the time but actually, he was doing nothing for her, only for himself, he was just justifying his actions this way.

He was dragging out this trial with Ruka, which started to be ridiculously stupid after this 10-20 chapters. And even though his ex was supposed to be the bad one, he was clearly treating her bad during their relationship and even after.
Just... no. He was so bad. Reading about him was so tiring.
So how did I survive all this way with him up to chapter 42? The answer brings us to the one good point of this manga. That one point alone deserves all three points I decided to give this manga.
Chizuru.
I love Chizuru. I love her as shojo manga protagonist. She is compassionate, cute, and she's trying so hard. She's trying hard at university, at work, achieving her dreams. She's actually a strong, mature girl. She's taking part in all this Kazuya's mess just because she's a good person and feels bad for both him and his grandma. She's actually thinking about others more than herself. But at the same time, I don't see her as a Mary Sure as she has her weak sides too. Seriously, I was reading this manga just and only for her, but at some point even she couldn't save this thing.
We're still a long way before the manga ending, but as a typical shojo manga it is, Kazuya and Chizuru will 100% end up together. And I have to say, I feel bad for Chizuru. She deserves better.

Pathetic

This story goes nowhere, no character development, the plot is stuck at the very beginning on one level, pathetic dialogues, children in kindergarten know better how to communicate ....The only character I like is Chizuru, and I feel sorry for her that she has to be in a history with such a weak remaining characters...
Kazuya has hardly development since the beginning of the story, and even if there was a slight progress, he immediately stepped back, pathetic...
Another irritating character...Ruka, she literally sexually assaulted Kazuya...twice! She lies and manipulates people to fulfill her selfish desires. Someone should show her where her place is...
Story in general is shallow, pathetic and...dragged endlessly...highly don't recommend!

Was quite interesting at the start and the artstyle is very nice too. Bul like a ton of people have already said, it just drags on for way too long and it's actually a pain to read these new chapters. But i'm too invested now to drop it ffs.

Also this mangaka does this super infuriating thing. Every time the main heroine is in a public place where there are people around, the scene starts with every male side (NPC) character going about how pretty she is "OMG she is so hot!" "Is she alone!?" "Should I go talk to her?" He does that Every-Single-Time. WE GET THAT SHE IS ATTRACTIVE, SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP PLEASE STOP.

This manga doesn't progress at all. It's like the author just recycles the text and changes the background in each new release. Not worth the time, but I already started it so I want to finish it.

I thought the idea of a "rental girlfriend" seemed quirky and interesting, and if the story progresses right, this would have been a very fun read...and it was...

The artwork is definitely very fun and creative. The mangaka has definitely done his research in fashion and modern career trends ([url]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3rKrTehORY[/url], Day in the Life of a Mangaka by Paolo of Reiji Miyajima, the mangaka of this manga), which is something I truly appreciate. However, the characters are not memorable (besides Kazuya's friend Kibe and Umi), quite childish, and can make reading the manga painfully boring.

The problem with this manga (and other romance/drama manga) is that the mangaka ran out of new and creative "drama" to stir the pot and ends up recycling previous plots. So this manga ends up going around in circles multiple times with a new character or updated script but the drama is still generally the same idea. No drama is ever so great that it is hindering yet builds character. Instead, the mangaka creates a lot of little drama that's just more of an annoyance that serves no actual purpose. Eventually, the plot strays and it focuses on Chizuru's dreams of acting but by the time I reached that point, the manga is already so boring that I've stopped investing good time in reading it.

Example dramas that should have been emphasized for more drama:

Nanami and her vow to break Kazuya and Chizuru apart. Wouldn't it have been very interesting that the ex-girlfriend who dumped Kazuya is trying to break them apart out of jealousy constantly? I thought this "revenge" was definitely downplayed, and it would've had a more dramatic effect, even if it was out of pettiness. Instead, you only see it here and there, never anything great, but always just generally there.
Kazuya's family business. We don't hear about it until in the middle of the story thus far, BUT it was only mentioned briefly a few times. We barely know what it is and why Kazuya rarely talks about it (except that he will probably take over it). We don't know how he or his family feels about it.
Both of Kazuya's and Chizuru's social life outside of what we've been reading so far. Kazuya's friends Kibe and Kuri make their own tiny arcs in the manga but right after their role is done, you don't hear from them again. I'm disappointed that I am now reading more about his cosplay neighbor more than about Kazuya's childhood friend Kibe, who I thought was the most real guy I actually liked. Then there's Chizuru who doesn't have much a social life; we know she has friends but she's not close with them. Even one of her customers creating drama would have been a good drama idea.

Example dramas that has been emphasized but shouldn't have been:

Ruka's patience for her boyfriend who continues to rent a girlfriend. What idiot allows their boyfriend to continue to rent a girlfriend? And what idiot would make a plot this way😕
The grandmothers' constant health scares. And then you learn that it was over something small, which is just a way to change the subject or quickly deter the plot from moving in a specific direction. This has been used multiple times and is honestly getting really old. Pun intended.
The grandmothers' expectations of Kazuya and Chizuru's "marriage". I mean seriously, we barely even know WHAT the Kinoshita family business is, let alone the constant talk of him taking over it, and with Chizuru's dreams so big, they really can't expect her to settle.

I really wanted to like this. Interesting plot, great art, and some funny moments, but OH DEAR GOD I HATE THE MC!!! So goddamn stupid and pathetic. After reading 10 chapters he shows no signs of changing (or even potential to change) and he keeps lying which makes him so unlikable. If he does change later in the story, then it should have happened sooner.

There should be a special place in hell for authors who purposely avoid resolution.

Among of the dozens of romance manga I've come across in the past decade, this one is the most pointless and cringeworthy among all of them. All the bad parts of Nisekoi (without any of the good comedic parts) are amplified 100x in this manga. The author just keeps pumping out chapter after chapter with zero progress. The characters are purposely jilting us of any resolution.

It's so frustrating reading this, both because the MC is incorrigibly awkward and unlikeable, and because there's no resolution. I couldn't even recommend it to the most masochistic of romance manga readers.
