First...English's not my mother tongue...

I completly disagree with xono. I read the four/five first chapter and I stop after this, I was to annoyed with the author. His story's just a bunch a cliche and an excuse to sex.

A poor/shy/virgin/clueless/naive/etc uke end-up a victim of rape bu a forcefull/ powerfull seme. Of course when the seme rape him, although the uke is built, he can't escape the man and of course again, he is going to enjoy this. They always do.

Yes, it's graphic, yes, Minase sensei artwork's beautiful, but it's a novel, not a manga. When I read a book, I don't start it because of the art but because I want a good storie. This book fail totally in this regard. After the first rape/sex part, we are entitled to a new scene where the uke can't do anything again, after a Oh not so memorable fall in the pool. I saw this scene happen at the mention of the pool, really predictable, as we could guess that Asakura will travel to the office the next morning to bypass Kasuga. It's after this that I stop.

Just a thing that bother me. Shino (kasuga coworker). already work for the firm when he start, but she is three years younger than him. He is 23, so she is 20, he work here for one year, so her...for what two year? How old she was when she finish highschool anf go college? A miminum of logic, it's just what I ask.

Maybe, It's me who is too picky.

too simplistic, too idiotic an uke. i can't enjoy a story if one of the people is described as especially competent, but is in reality so clueless that he couldn't get that amazing a reputation. it just grates on me too much. i also like a wee bit more realism in my rapes -- minami is described as almost as tall as asakura, taller than most, and asakura later shows that he himself is out of shape -- and yet, minami can't do a thing to fend him off; he conveniently loses all power to fight after the first forced kiss. meh. rape as a starter is bad enough, especially with no compelling reason -- what happened to wooing somebody (at least at first)? minami is clearly already attracted to the man. and one of the later scenes during which minami loses his clothes is so predictable and silly that i laughed out loud, but not in a good way. in fact just about everything here is not really believable. it doesn't have to be believable in the real world, but if i am supposed to take it seriously at all, it needs to have some internal believability. if i am not supposed to take it seriously, it needs to be a lot of humourous, and/or a mere vehicle for the smut.

the sex was sorta hot albeit in a girly way, however there isn't really enough here to read the novel mainly for the smut; i'm gonna remove that from the genre listing. if you want smut, read body language instead. minase's drawings are nice and sexy, but i don't read novels for the illustrations. the translation is not hideous, though the copy editor must have had a bad day; there are some sentences which make no sense. and dear juné: don't translate "-san" as "mr."; it does not work in english when people become lovers, it sounds really weird when said during sex, especially when the "mr." uses the other's first name.

The Lonely Egoist is one of those story where you already know the whole book from its summary. If it goes to your liking, well ...read it. If it doesn't, you are not missing anything. Its selling point is its erotic scenes, yet it wasn't sexy enough for me to read it solely for the steamy scenes. The art isn't that pleasing for the eyes either, and for the story... What? There's a story? Overall, it feels like I'm reading harlequin novel, but with male x male couple instead of hetero ones.

So this is the first BL novel i've read (i usually stick to manga or read english publicated novels so this really is a first for me). I have to say i was somewhat surprised, in a good way. First i have to say, although i liked the story and characters the writing style is not to my taste. That said, the passionate scenes were very well written. For the characters in general, they are generally ok, but could have possible used more depth and character? The uke, Minami is fairly honest and straight forward, theres not much guile about him and his personality type seems pretty simple. I was a little bit disapointed by Minami's sudden leap from resistance to love... it seemed too sudden and thoughtless to be believable. That said, the seme, Asakura amused me. I can't help but like slightly sadistic and domineering seme's though. Overall the characters were pleasing and work well together but more depth to their personalities might've been nice. Anyway, the story itself i found enjoyable. Its straight forward and theres no huge twists and turns as you usually find in romances, so its quite relaxed. As for the art work... its Minase Masara xD so as always it was excellent, from the front cover to the final illustrated insert. Overall im giving this 8/10 as a rating. It was enjoyable and i cant deny that the passionate scenes were extremely enticing too.

I have to disagree with qwenqwel and say that this novel is a great read. I loved it because it was fun and passionate. After my finals, I wanted to sit back and enjoy something that was erotic and a real page turner, and I luckily found this novel. I also loved the characters, they really played out for me.......so if you are into a yaoi novel that is sexy and not to be taken seriously, then this one is for you 🙂 Peace.

The story is very nice. Angsty and quite passionate. If you're into that kind of things, this is for you.

I just love Minase sensei's artwork and this novel shows her art style as well. I would love this in manga form to see sensei's art in panels than a few pages of graphics. It's my second BL novel that I've read and this was so detailed considering it's particularly yaoi. Nevertheless, this is an engaging read even with few graphics.
