I'll admit, my first judgement of the heroine was that she wasn't the brightest button. I thought that she took things completely at face value, was gullible and incapable of deception simply because she could not imagine it. I also thought that she was very lonely and therefore vulnerable. A victim. I thought that the hero was the prince charming type; that he would sweep her off her feet and commit himself to her in a highly public manner thus vindicating her and freeing her from her troubles. The faery angle was going to be noting more than a gimmick.

But I was wrong - neither the hero nor the heroine have conformed to that initial impression. She asks questions and is not completely sold by the Earl's story. He has yet to show just what sort of person he is though you suspect that he isn't as black as he paints himself (which is very black). Nevertheless he is a mystery. Even more shockingly there is a plot! The mangaka is making full use of British mythology and they contnue to create intrigue and suspicion. The conflict between the 2 main characters gives an edge to their relationship and there is an added sexual tension between them which is a;ways fun ^_^

Its more authentic than some historical, European manga that I've read - although there are still mistakes. People still address the Earl as 'Earl' which doesn't ring true - it should be Lord I think...

Still, this shoujo isn't predictable. Now that is worth reading! For the moment anyway.

Like I said on the forum, I really want to scanlate this manga :/. But I've checked amazon.jp and yesasia and they don't have the manga for sale. They only have the light novels, etc. If anybody finds raws, I would be happy to scanlate it. And, although the anime is a little too classic shoujo for my tastes, it is quite good, if you get what I mean.

why don't they make more (good) mangas with the combo romance + fantasy >.<

I really like the anime so far. It has a good and not-too-simple plot. Personally, i just love the combination of romance and fantasy.
I, too, also wish someone will scan this... but... for now, i guess, i recommend the anime!!

Hakushaku to Yousei is seriously one of the best mangas I've read *nods* You don't find many where the girl doesn't instantly fall and succumb to the lead hero's seduction
The anime was awesome but short T_T
The manga is going pretty well, making sure to include all details left out in the anime ^^
But I still prefer the light novels best ;P

The anime got me off topic and now the manga made me crazy. I have not seen any man in the world of manga as beautiful as Edgar, though I fall for almost everyone when I read manga or watch anime. But yeah, the anime was really good and the song in the anime were also really good.

I watched the anime, and I think it's really good. It's a nice blend of action, romance, comedy and fantasy. Really refreshing The art is really nice as well and very clean, and Edgar is total eye candy. The characters are lovable and enjoyable xD Definitely reccommend it.

Just read the first 80-page release on a chinese website...it's a keeper. Nice art, rich story line set in 19th century England (nice outfits). Pretty hot (but cool) main dude, lovely, equally cool and smart heroine. Interesting supporting cast rounds out what looks to be a promising series to follow. I really dig the fantasy and romance combo, plus i'm tired of the 100s of shoujo out there pairing hot male lead with idiotic dumb helpless females, so this is just what the doctor ordered :-) I'm hooked and will now search for the anime while waiting for the next manga installment..

This manga is incredible! Extremely cute and adorable!!! BUT!!!! It ended. I'm not talking about any kind of normal ending. It was as if it was literally cut-off! Unfinished!! SOOO disappointing!!!!!!!!! It had so much potential too!!! It's sad to know that such a good manga was ended like this...When it was still going, it was enjoyable but now, sometimes I feel like it was better to not read such a good manga like this, just to see it end so unfittingly. I know there is a novel but still =TT-TT=

I really enjoyed what's scanlated so far of this manga, so after having this not updated for nearly a year I decided to check out the anime-- which turned out to be terrible. It's so much more hella cutesy-shoujo waff when it comes to everyone and especially Lydia in the anime. It's disgusting. (Not to mention that the opening song SUCKS, for the record.)

Lydia isn't as helpless or ~desirable~ to every male on the planet as the anime perceives her to be, and I really hate how everything boiled down to romance being the driving factor of the climax. I know that it's shoujo and all, but geez, the fluff can come in moderation! I just hope that the manga doesn't go down the same path that the show did. At the very least, the raws hinted that it wouldn't be as idiotic.
