I didn't expect the Drama and Feelings and how it played was going to be this Good!!!
From the spin-off, I was expecting the story is more about how they discover their feelings toward each other only. I didn't expect this to be about how the past was so important and how they cleared the past problem and how their relationship was goes with the flow of their relationship and they finally realise their feelings and finally they're together and all. And God, that was just Sooo Smooth!!! I'm Loving it!!!
I really wanted to get into this story since I thought the character dynamic between these two characters was interesting in the story before it. Unfortunately, I was disappointed.
The characters are basically annoying tsunderes for each other who can't communicate their feelings for each other clearly and we don't even get a clear "I like you" by either of them by the end, which I could maybe expect from a manga about high school students, but adults?! I get that one of them has a trauma (I suppose) and the other has some weird issue connecting to others, but still. Reading this was exhausting, almost like I was reading a shoujo manga. I didn't get to like either characters in the end, in fact reading this manga made me like the characters less than in the previous manga :/
sorry for sounding so harsh, I just expected a lot more when I really enjoyed the previous manga.
edit: I was just reminded that the best part of this manga was the brief perspective of the female character and the brief commentary on how male writers treat female characters. some refreshing ass truth
At first I was a bit skeptical about how this relationship would build (based on the first manga), but I was surprsingly pleased. Both characters have complex yet realistic backgrounds. I also really liked the reveal of the tutor; though she was a minor character, her POV on the story was treated with deserving respect. On the whole, I’ve noticed that the depiction of women in BL manga are nowadays much more nuanced. Yay for change!
I admittedly wasn't too interested in this couple judging from the instances of their appearance in the original manga this one is based on, but the mangaka proved me wrong once again and made me like her characters way more than I had expected. They're well written and considerably more complex than mere stereotypes like the impression they give off at first, which made me sympathise with their story a lot better too. Ultimately they're just really cute and likeable, and so are the chibi drawings <3
If u read the prequel, u’d suspect something was up with these two couple and just knowing that give u so much more satisfaction reading this. The characters and storyline was deeper than they look to be at the beginning. And for once the seme isnt forcing his way onto the uke, nor is the uke jumping into conclusion on every chance he got without properly investigating beforehand. I want to read more of the two and feel like this love story is just beginning.
by all rights a decent story, but something about it made it so flat and devoid of any emotion. my investment in it was 0%, so much so that by the final extra chapter i still didn't know whose name was whose LOL. read to kill time if you wish- if you give it a pass, don't look back.
