Don't take it too seriously. I think it's misunderstood.

I would like to recommend this simply because it is incredibly unique. It is a shounen romance oneshot (which are rare to begin with) but it gives the impression that the author reads a lot of shoujo. I think it should get a high rating for the heroine's expressions alone, they make the author's style of drawing refreshing. I can understand why some people don't like this oneshot, it has a lot of plot holes and little development, but keep in mind that the author did fit an entire oneshot into 18 pages, which is a short length even for chapters of a serialization. I think you shouldn't take it too seriously, it seems like satire to me.
Although the maid could have been handled better, she served a necessary purpose toward the end of the chapter. Even so, I thought the characters had more depth than some series. The protagonist fits the appearance of the usual John Q. Useless
All in all I can't give this a 10 because it has little development and a few plot holes, but overall I think it shows the author has a subtle sense of humor and a talent for subverting cliches. It makes me look forward to more works in the future, hopefully with more pages.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
But doesn't stay that way for the whole chapter and *gasp* actually isn't blackmailed forever, or get the girl based on getting beat up till he cries.
Also notice the part of the chapter where instead of her popularity inadvertently causing the protagonist to suffer jealously she does it deliberately to punish him. I think the author uses many such subtle differences that make the humor much more refreshing to me, but only if you notice them.
It's true it had little development but I feel the author did a lot with the pages and more development would have been inconsistent with the character of the protagonist, who wasn't praying for a sudden idol girlfriend from the beginning in contrast with the usual lead of similar plots. Also notice the part of the chapter where instead of her popularity inadvertently causing the protagonist to suffer jealously she does it deliberately to punish him.
