Since ML has the emotional development of a preteen, most conversations outside of the bedroom involve him becoming furious at her, obsessing over her, or giving her the cold shoulder. He's so delusional about the idea of "highborn bride" he doesn't notice her reactions or actual needs. It's almost comedic.
And you can guess what FL is like... A pushover queen, in the never-ending tunnel of low self-esteem...
I can say both of their character development is near to none since this is their average day: They have sex, ML leaves the bedroom and FL continues her day as she gets insecure about ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.
I can't see their relationship as romantic... I feel like the story is popular just bc ML looks like that but that was going downhill too. Like in every chapter, his head gets smaller while his torso reaches galaxy-level big.

I don't know how this series got so OVERRATED...

Give it a chance is all I can say.

Warning: It is slow like many other people have said and for the type of story that this is... I think if it was rushed I wouldn't have developed such a deep investment in this story.

Note: I would just like to say, I really like how the author didn't shy away from the characters doing their 'marital duties' of course Maxi is always embarrassed and shy about it, but I like how it shows a healthy adult relationship.

The Characters: Maxi is our FL and she has undergone a very traumatic life - she has spent her whole life confined and abused. She is such a frail character and I don't think I have ever seen such an accurate depiction of overcoming trauma in a non-triggering way. This woman is admirable and subtly strong. She is plagued by negative thoughts and those don't just go away, so while it can be frustrating to see her constantly put herself down compared to the larger picture it is all understandable.

Story: It is in the perspective of the FL - I would say that this is a story of self discovery and falling in love.

Other Characters: Because this is from Maxi's POV you don't get to know the characters very well, while also seeing them change and morph into people with their own lives, motives and feelings.

Spoilers: I have read some spoilers and from what I have seen Maxi will find ways to become better and stronger for herself and her husband.

pacing issue but love the story kinda

Read some of the novel beyond the manhwa (which is just okay) just to understand where it’s going because it’s kind of slow. I think that the FL’s character does develop slow, but it is understandable considering the work she has to put in to work on herself. She is finally getting to a good point in her development. The ML while good-looking is not that likeable. He does show some development but he does some things that are kind of questionable.

I love FL’s growth, her interactions with the side characters, and the world building in general.

FL’s world expands with our view of the manhwa’s world as she steps up as a lady of the castle, networks with the other knights/squires, and picks up a new skill, and I think this is why the slow pacing isn’t the biggest dealbreaker for me. My favourite part is her interaction with the cute silver-haired mage. I honestly ship them so much more than ML/FL because she really grows and shines with him. He is way more human and sociable, nurturing and you can see FL is so at ease around him when she’s always so tense around the ML. I wish the rest of the story was just about them tbh

Soulless and tropey storytelling

The art style is quite generic tbh. It's not bad, but the story in itself needed to be outstanding for the art to be not a big factor. But the storytelling of this novel is full of tropes and fan service type moments. You can predict the entire progression and ending if you have read the first few pages of the novel. You can basically just read the first few chapters of the Manhwa and the last few and skipped hundreds of chapters in the middle without missing anything. But, you can't do that cause it's still ongoing and would take 4-5 years to complete in the minimum. it's too much effort when I can just find hundreds of other Manhwas which are same as this.

Overhyped and repititive.

Extremely overhyped this one. The concept was good, but execution so bad and poor. The story is very repetitive, characters are boring, too much plot that leads to nothing and the publication history is a total nightmare. I can tell the first few chapters there was decent plot development, but after a point it became so predictable and unnecessarily long.

Slow, but good

Apparently the novel is much better than the webtoon, so give it a read if you can!

Currently I'm caught up at Ch 46, but the story is just so slow that I will drop it since I have no patience.

Love the art and the storyworld that is built. The character development for the FL is there, and then everything else is pretty cliché (but that's alright!).

Batoto had this labelled as smut, but there is nothing that's very NSFW.

If you like slow meticulous character growth, and pretty decent worldbuilding together hefty amount of low selfesteem and traumatic childhood? Then this is for you, I love all the things above, and honestly can't stop reading it.

The art is also excellent.

A hard read

This one is really frustrating. It's got a good plot, but the characters are so frustrating. I don't care how 'hot' the male lead is, he does nothing but trigger the female lead's traumas and anxieties. And the female lead just keeps her mouth shut about everything so nobody knows how much she's hurting.
Annoying.

My favourite webtoon. The best characters

Maxi is exactly the kind of lead character I want to see, she feels so real. She's been manipulated, told she's not as good as her sister, physically abused, and made to feel small her entire life. Of course she's going to feel weak and not speak her mind. I've cried a few times during this webtoon because hating yourself is a relatable and horrible feeling. Seeing her grow confidence and allow herself to grow closer to Riftan is so heartwarming.

Riftan's character growth is satisfying to see as well. He starts to understand Maxi and is learning to explain things properly instead of saying something gruffly and letting Maxi think that she is the problem. And his unrelenting love doesn't stop him from still doing his job. Honestly it's nice to see a bit of work-romance balance in a webtoon. 😂

I can't wait to see the backstory of when he fell for her and all the other tea but the character development and growing affection is so much better than a speedy plot.

Not to mention art is stunning and the characters are 🥵🥵
