The era is Edo (1603-1868). Tsubaki is a merchant's daughter who is sold to the red lights district after losing her family in a fire. Driven by desire to triumph over her first love, a servant, she aims to become the top courtesan! She polishes her beauty and artistic talents every day, but for some reason, her senior courtesan and current number one oiran Takao has an eye on her?!
In volume 4 is included the oneshot Ginrou no Sakura.
A beautiful wolf with silver hair and silver eyes... Surely I'll be captured.
5 Volumes (Complete)

It's absolutely amazing! Sure it's not totally original! But who really cares? As long as the story draws you in and tells it in a different perspective, then go for it! The characters are so adorable and the main girl utterly cracks me up, she's very unusual for a shoujo heroine! ;D
My rate: Art: 8 Story:5 Character:2

The concept of this manga is to introduce courtesan as part of the culture in Edo period--->nothing against it.But the whole thing just gradually moves toward the wrong way as the story goes on.If Tsubaki and Shin keep up with their game, what the hell will they archive in the end? The more i keep reading, the more hatred builds up....
Don't know about the other, but I'm so feed up with the crossdressing drag, there are just too many manga about it....
But you HAVE to understand that Oiran were not just whores. They are not whores they were entertainers. That means they studied art, music, etc to entertain the clients who could pay(wealthy men) along with sexual services. Oiran were educated women back then and probably being an Oiran was the only way to go if you wanted to influence politics back then. So they are more like 'friends with benefits', and also just read geminigirl's review.
also, it's obvious that they did not have to perform sexual services at all because of
Shin/Takao who is actually a MAN and obviously could not have fooled anyone in nakedness
I hope i cleared that up for you. This series is just too good for a shoujo, the girl is not stupid and her love interest is not your typical prince charming. They fight a lot 🙂 . So far this is amazing for a shoujo and i recommend it.

Name-Undecided's got it spot on but that's only the perspective from someone of our time. Since the time period is Edo, people don't view things the same way that we do. The oiran were also entertainers so they needed skills and they also contributed to Japan's culture. -shrug- Nothing we can do to change the past.
Hibiki's art is extremely pretty as always so I'll probably check back on it when I'm bored. The plot is cliché and a bit idiotic but eye candy's always nice.
Something's wrong with this Tsubaki girl's brain. Does she really know what being a courtesan is all about? Sure it was "glamorous" but when all's said and done, you're just a glorified WHORE. So her mission in life is to become a prostitute. Her best revenge on those who abandoned her is to sell her body? Oh yeah, that'll really show Shin. Smart girl.
And then of course, it turns out that Shin...well, mustn't spoil. Basically Tsubaki is completely wasting her time and there's no need for me to read any more of this manga. The End.
