Good read

It started out super enjoyable and had me wondering how all these overused clichés could seem fresh. Seol even in the beginning was my girl, super fun main character and the male lead Bongsu had great chemistry with her. I do think the romance evolved a little too fast, but the longing between them at a certain point was just the cherry on top.

I don’t necessarily hate the direction the comic took, but around halfway I was still invested and enjoying it but nowhere near the amount I was at beginning. That seems to be a trend with these stories is that they’re all fantastic at the start, but not so much later on.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The focus on Seoul’s divinity was abrupt and not properly fleshed out, even though it’s clearly implied in the title. And the conflict with her brother was a bit frustrating to read as well because that too wasn’t written as a proper mystery. There comes a point where she was threatening him with evidence and he forced the upper hand on her to turn it in… but why didn’t she make a copy? If the dude was dumb enough to have you hand over a paper packet AND give you time to make a decision I really feel like I would go save my boyfriend and have someone else turn in the copy but whatever.
Also the ending??? Cut short. Not enough questions answered. Why did nothing come of the guy who went down to retrieve Jacheongbi, I expected this dude to do something???? What even was the purpose of his character. SUCH wasted potential. And then what about Seol who remained a goddess (and I actually really love that she figured out a way to not discredit all the hard work she’s done and fall in love and be with her lover at the same time), but she’s immortal and Bongsu clearly isn’t. The comic doesn’t even mention what happens after he dies. Do they stay together with him as a ghost or something the divine realm??? Do they part and it’s super tragic??? How does that work.

Lastly, Bongsu’s personality devolved from a stubborn but principled guy into just a puppy. Anything about his character was all in relation to Seol. Loving her, worrying about her, yada yada and I miss the loss of his actual personality. He was still adorable and determined, but that’s kind of all he was. Definitely not the same character he portrayed at the beginning.

Aside from that still a cute read and I’d recommend it.
