Description

Most girls are crazy about jewelry, but not Anis Yamamoto. Not since her father gave her a rose choker as a child, claiming it was a protective amulet which would safeguard her from harm; however, if she ever took it off (a feat easier said than done!), she would be afflicted by a “punishment” of some sort. Not like it matters to her though, since the attention it attracts around school from faculty and students alike isn’t something she’s particularly fond of.

But after a certain incident causes the choker to disappear, she realizes that this punishment her father spoke of might have been a bit more than she bargained for!

I really enjoy this manga because it has decent art, and I love the characters personlities (especially tenjou?-sama's [the white rose]). I also enjoy a strong protaganist insead of the weak, "oh, I cant do anything myself so i just cry" kind of girl. I love love triangles, but sometimes the love triangle('s?) frusterated me. I'm guessing that she will probably end up with Kae-idiot (Kaede [the red rose]), but who knows maybe she'll end up with a totally random one like the yellow (or fake rose's) rose for example!

Disappointing

Well, I've officially abandoned this one, quite sadly. I started out reading it and I felt like it was going to be good. I'm disappointed. I love the art. Love it. But the plot could use work. It's pretty much cliche at the start. I thought it was going to have a more linear plot, more about the necklace and curses and whatever. But, alas, it was very episodic. It even got to the point where they just were jumping the shark and moving on to cliche events and situations.

I like the boy selection. They're each very cute/handsom and unique (in the cliche way), and the art makes them droolworthy. Anise isn't that great of a heroine. Stubborn, apparently attractive (?) and annoyingly kind of bitchy.

The plot shriveled up like a rose in space and I can't even consider it a "light and fun" read. It's trying so hard to be epic and amazing, but not even the humor or little TINY bits of romance can make up for it's fail.

the art is without a doubt beautiful but the plot may be a bit plain i only read up to chapter 2 but i do look forward to future releases. Characters are interesting and i hope to see them develop through out the story.

It's cringe but cute, like a fanfic from 10 or 15 years ago.

Posting this review primarily to include the following info, as searching for some of the alternate titles and author names WILL NOT bring up info: the series title and author name IN JAPANESE, according to Amazon.co.jp, are as follows:

Author: 硝音あや

Searching anything else will turn up Chinese and Korean movies and J-dramas.

(Of course, it has an official English release on kindle, so it's less of an issue now unless you're fluent in Japanese and want to save money.)

At first I was worried about the main character (anis) because there's always a crybay as the heroin someone pathetic and useless UGH .this is reverse harem u know u get the idea. But this manga didn't disappointed me at all.. Well actually did a little.. Well my heart it's broken. But anyway..

Okay the art was beautiful, the plot was kinda very cliche actually but I like anis personalit , she's not a crybaby and doesn't lose herself for a guy, she have a strong mind and support her people, I love her. The guys are actually super handsome but mutsuki is the one ugh I love him badly I ship those two so hard. He's the right guy for her.

I absolutely fell in love this story the minute I started reading it. It's something I haven't seen before with four Rose Knights, that are all really good looking, and some "fake" Rose Knights created by… Anis's own father! There is a bit of romance and rivalry going on between the original four Rose Knights which makes the story better. At this point, I don't know who Anis may choose, Kaede (hopefully) or Mutsuki. Whatever happens, I be happy with for the drawing makes the characters better, especially when Anis kisses a card and the Rose knight appears with rose petals twirling about. Also, the relationship between the characters is good, I'm just glad Mutsuki finally grew to like Anis, which increases the love rivalry with Kaede. But, to the disappointment of Mutsuki, I do believe Anis will choose Kaede, especially with him being the only one having a 2nd Awakening and kissing Anis twice! What will happen next....?!

i like it a lot! at first, i wasn't all too impressed, but things got rolling, and it got more sincerity in the mix, and i ended up liking it a whole lot. it gets a lot better!! a wholeee lot better! i love that anis isn't necessarily a physically strong, save-the-day kinda heroine, but she tries to do what's right, and she does it even though she finds it hard. she doesn't like being able to do nothing, so she does what she can.

and the knights... oh the knights... ahhhh! they're so beautiful, and their personalities are just so vibrant and adorable. even the ones i didn't like in the beginning began to have more complex personalities, and a past, and motives, and began to become more real. i like it. 🙂

the art - whoa, the art is breath taking. every time a full color drawing of the knights come up i'm like AHHHH! (in a good way.) anis even got a bit better drawn i think.

and i love the romance! it's so... i mean...

kinda predictable? but they throw in wrenches.. like the black rose, i was not expecting that, even though it was somewhat of an act (phew by the way! i was like NOOO!). i think she's ending up with kaede - that's how i can see it ending up, anyways - but it gives the others their moments.

it's just steamy enough to wish it was even more steamy.. hehe...

all in all, not the BEST IVE EVER READ OMG. but it entertains, and keeps you wondering, and oh goodness the bishies. i can't believe there's only a couple more volumes, it can't end ;~;

Was a bit worried that the female lead, Anis, would be head over heels crazy over her knights when she realised she's the Rose Princess but I'm glad she knows that she has to pull her own weight and is serious about taking responsibility as what she is. The art is crazy beautiful I love all the characters and although Anis looks much younger than her male counterparts, the maturity of her character makes up for it.

Can't wait for the full completion of scanlation of this manga. Really worth your time reading! 🙂

P/S: what bugs me is that Anis father is so not the typical father you see in mangas. Hopefully there's a reason to it in the end.

Read up to ch. 14. I really wanted to like it but it was the most generic manga I have ever read (and for the first time that means a lot to me and this is like my second time writing a review). Some of the situations they were in were also just too silly.

choker/charm/amulet that is used for protection (what protection? from what punishment? betrayal and losing the Rhode Knights? I still don't really know)
male harem that sparkles (they are drawn very beautifully but sometimes I could only take so much sparkle by then I only see them as very superficial when you've seen the same thing done in Ouran, Hanasakeru Seishounen, Angelique, Kiniro no Corda)
female lead must chose a guy to marry because of contract
talking mascot (I'm very sorry and I don't mean to offend the translators but his lingo is too "foreign" to like)
finding items to reinstate something that was lost or broken (seen it in Inuyasha, Card Captors, and Tsubasa Reservoir Chornicles) <-- this is actually the driving plot element that I dislike the most when I've seen it so many times
devil/demon that will destroy the world

Random side comments: Anise's character design makes me think of Taiga from Toradora -___-, the humor seems very forced and goofy (though I will admit that I did laugh at some of them "wtf? lol"), first time that I've seen a father enemy to the female lead (usually they are overprotective or like to coddle/dote on them), the use of roses/rose thorns are overdone but I guess not having the roses would defeat the purpose of "Kiss of Rose Princess"

I would read this ONLY for the eyecandy. The plot is generic but not cringeworthy at least, that is about as much compliment as I can give it.
