Description

Everyone in this story is a product of their bad decisions. No one grows beyond their shortcomings by the end. Da-ae is not magically healed from her traumas. She didn't learn how to be a better person. The kidnapping and r4pe certainly didn't do anything more than prove how the men she treated poorly are truly garbage. They're so mad at her for pulling the veil off and exposing their darkness to the world. They think they're the victim and want to "punish" her, but frankly they're just too chickenshit to look themselves in the mirror and take accountability. She never forced any man to do anything. Her most egregious act was sending the sex video to the professor-author's daughter. The second was leading that psychopath zealot (before his veil of a pious man was torn off) to believe she would be abstinent for him. It seemed like the men she sleeps with know she is sleeping around, but if not, then serial cheating is another of her "wrongs".

Let me be clear, she is NOT ok and the way she treats men is BAD. I'm sure she has hurt men who live honestly and they are victims. We are only shown the ones who aren't so innocent. She should not have been involved with these men in the first place. She is wrong for that. However, these men allowed it. Because they're garbage.

I've read comments defending the school teacher, and I don't understand why. He had plenty of opportunities to help Da-ae in an appropriate way. He was beyond inappropriate just by letting her stick around him alone. He 1. Touched her sexually when she was a minor, 2. Did not get her the help she (a minor) needed, 3. Participated in the kidnapping of her years later, 4. R4PED her. Just because he didn't want to go so far as burning her alive and tried to stop it doesn't redeem him of his previous actions.

At the end, those who walked away from the "redemption camp" walked away with kidnapping and rape on their consciences. Great going guys. Job well done. Feel better now? No? Go figure.

Very much a Redemption story

The female lead, Da-ae does a lot of scummy things to ruin a bunch of guys' lives. Some of these guys I can't feel too sorry for as they straight up ruined their own lives while the first guy you meet in this story quickly loses sympathy from me because he sets up what is essentially torture porn. But you also get flashes of not just what she did to ruin these guys, but how her own past traumas ruined her and made her into a monster of sorts. But just as how she wasn't born a monster, but was made, she gets redemption by way of one of the guys of her past that tried to help her, but she gave up on initially. But he never gave up on her...

This is actually a really good series. Throughout it the author makes you feel a series of conflicting emotions about each of the main characters. You see our main character, the woman Da-ae, make a series of decisions, often justified, but she'll always cross over the line in a MAJOR way that's just unacceptable...but the author also makes sure you understand her completely and why she does it.
Likewise you'll feel conflicting emotions between the other characters, some are bad, evil, complicated, good... (The exception to this is Gitae who's just a straight up lunatic and one-dimensional)

It's legit a good story, but rated all the higher for being porn but actually bothering with good plot and characters.

A Story About Karma

This story is about the past of a girl who has led men on whose lives she has ruined on her own or through other people. I would not read this if you like stories about characters you want to like but end up not doing so.

The only interesting thing about this story besides where its heading is the fact that the narrative is through the eyes of the "victims." Had things been through the main girl's eyes, I don't think I would have read it for long considering her manipulative ways and how she doesn't really own it. She's shown as morally gray from the perspective of the men which makes sense but for the narrative I think it works against her.

Art is manwha average. Plot is ok. Characters are divisive.
