Strong Start. Weak Ending.

This manga has one of the strongest starts for a story I've seen. Sadly it doesn't live up to its potential. The ending felt very lackluster, you could tell the author was running out of ideas on where to take the story. Luckily this is short so I think that you could binge this and it would be more enjoyable than having to wait for the chapter releases as it did.

was going good but till Kou went to the nobles house to play detective and the the story went to having future tech in a fantasy setting and from there to a pathetic prince and princes crap and that was my limit, it's a 28ch story and I couldn't finish it, what a waste of a good start.
It's like the author doesn't know what to do with the story and ends making a mess trying incompatible things and ultimately having to end it, or because he had to end it he had to rush it and ended like that maybe? Regardless, not good.

I really loved this story. His attitude and how he travelled back and forth everywhere, going from one place to another and meeting new people for a new adventure lasting several chapters each was just so damn good. My score, however, doesn't reflect the last several chapters and the ending. As you might know, the ending was extremely, extremely rushed(the source material, the novel, is still ongoing though). I guess it's good that they managed to finish it up as nice as they did given how abruptly and in the middle of the story it ended. If I had to factor in the last part, I'd have to give it a score of 7/10, but I won't do so since I don't feel it's right for a manga adaptation that was axed.

This mc is kinda special. He's assumedly from japan, at least his consciousness is, but he has no memory of that place and he's something of a child-like adult, he knows nothing and is always eager to learn more, not being tainted by the world. He grows visibly as he goes along. We have none of that cliché mc bullshit, this guy just does whatever he fancies as he tries to experience the world and learn. He has no complicated thoughts either, but he's not stupid.

I usually hate naive mcs that are too kind, too much of a doormat or just plain moronic. This mc is kind, but not overly so. He's not really moved by normal emotions. He has no huge feelings for anything that happens, yet he still feels a drive to go on. He "sacrifices" himself many times over the course of the story, but since he's just possessing some random bodies, it makes sense and isn't idiotic like it would be if a normal mc went along trying to do the same. When they die, he feels pretty much nothing for them, except one or two where he just kinda says "sorry this happened, maybe there was a better way", he even let the animals he possessed eat the previous possession.

It's hard to explain why I liked this so much, but it's just the general mood and events going on. How he's not really bound down anywhere yet still has relations to everyone. There's nothing much to think about, no real romance, nothing. The mc never cared about things like that, he really seems to have no real motivations whatsoever except for experiencing new things and helping people on his way.

Give it a try, you might be surprised. By the way, the cover does not do it justice. Urgh, it really looked like garbage.

The Idea was good but...

In my opinion, this manga had a lot of potential to have a lot of chapters(maybe 100-300). Kou's adventures has only just begone, yet his story is already over. It's a real shame... There is just so many things that could've been explored, things like; a romantic interest, Kou's memories, the mysterious consciousness that controls the monsters; where, why, and how he came to be an immortal being with all of his abilities, even the world it self can be further explored. It'd been cool to see Kou go on missions with his friends while surprising the unsuspecting spectators. The story was really good and unique compared to the many stories I've read so far. A seemingly immortal entity with the ability to possess other beings and store things within a seemingly limitless dimensional space greatly amazes me. I hope to find something similar to this in the future.

The story, settings and characters were all great. But I do kind of wish that it went on for at least one more volume. The ending makes sense considering what Kou becomes towards the end...
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
An undying tank.
But perhaps it's best it ended the way it did.

Bottom line: read it.

Fresh Concept

When I first came across this manga in passing months ago I thought it was going to end up as a gender bender manga with the MC possessing female characters. Glad I was wrong.

The art is really good and reminiscent of the late 90's style of art than the generic art we get in most manga of this genre. No where near the level of something like Berserk but still very good.

Story line so far has been fresh, interesting and I love seeing the interaction between Kou's animals and the other characters. Kou and Karen scenes are just adorable.

Waaay too slow of a release schedule.

Disclaimer: I am NOT talking about the scanlation speed of this series by /ak/ scans.

For a monthly series each chapter just doesn't have enough plot progression to make it worthwile. The pacing is sluggish and does not do this story any favours. Read the light novel instead and give this series a looooong buffer time before you start reading it. I myself am gonna put this on my hold list for at least a year before coming back to it.

Gotta say, I really love how this manga starts out. I really like the re-incarnation/back from the dead genre's if they are done correctly. I pray this doesn't turn into one of those manga that releases a chapter once every 100+ days causing you to lose interest in it.
