Pseudo harem done right.
1.) The MC is NOT deaf, dumb and blind to the girl who likes him. That's already an improvement over 95% of the bullshit out there.
He's NOT dismissive or stringing along other women OR playing stupid about her feelings either. So damn refreshing.
The Love Interest likes him and he had no problem responding positively! I mean, he's no romantic and he's certainly not suave, but he's also a literal teenager. The fact that he immediately recognized her feelings and just as immediately doesn't shove it aside is amazing.
This relationship actually reminds me a lot of the one in Solo Leveling. That's a positive, because the Love Interest in SL could've become annoying as fuck but she didn't. It feels like the Love Interest in this one shows up a lot more though. Both women are, I think, equally active whenever they do show up. Nice.
2.) The women aren't (well, barely) fucking annoying. 2a.) MC's sister is adorable, realistic and NOT gross pedo bait. She hardly shows up so that's a positive because she could easily become a shitty caricature if given more screen time.
(A horrible disease inflicted upon them by uneducated, uncultured writers of these kinds of female characters in almost every shonen manhwa.)
3.) His spirit companion is a woman BUT she is NOT used for fan service. Perfectly beautiful yet not objectified? She's NOT a loli either? Neither does she flirt with him?! AND she's not an annoying bitch of a tsundere?! Daaaamn. Okay! Just for this alone it gets 4 stars.
4.) A very supportive father and a sweet, wholesome home life?!???? Wow.
5.) He's got good looking male friends!!!!!! YES. Yes, this is important. It shows that the MC is not one of those Gary Stu characters where the writer is scared his MC's friends will overshadow the MC.
MC is still ludicrously overpowered and is still the center of attention here. It's still a power fantasy, but it's a more(ish) well-rounded one...when it comes to tropes like The One and Not Like Other Guys.
