Dysfuntional Love in the Highest Sense

I really enjoyed this manga. The artwork is good quality and I think it's different to have a relatively straight guy end up in this kind of relationship. I really liked Yoshinaga because of his good qualities. He really takes cares of someone he loves and is extremely forgiving (until it becomes a flaw even) and he has a very calm demeanor even if his heart is uneasy. I didn't mind Takao as much as I think I should've since he has horrible qualities as a lover.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I just felt like Yoshinaga got cheated in the end since Takao never really did decide to stop wandering to women even after he committed (using the term lightly) to Yoshinaga.
His big breast fetish is kind of new to me in BL manga. Even more so that females are present and aren't portrayed as conniving and/or annoying bitches plotting against the male characters. Seriously, that is a very common theme in BL so I found that though Takao's fetish is extreme it brought forth a more welcoming presence of females even if more or less in a shallow way.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
To add, I did find it extremely selfish that Yoshinaga accepts all of Takao but Takoa admits he couldn't so the same. An example would be forgiveness for cheating or appearance changing like getting fat. Just like the love is more one-sided than not so are the redeeming qualities of this couple.

I also like a subtle message in this story. Well, for me it seems like you can love someone with all your heart but you can't change them or who they are. You can't mold someone to who you want them to be especially if they don't want to change either. It's either accept it or move on. Same with relationships: they aren't perfect (even the most lovey dovey one/love filled ones) and you aren't always going to get the perfect ending for the characters. I also found this equally refreshing since it's common for BL couples to work out and it's not always realistic. BL isn't always meant to be realistic but I liked how this one seems...a bit more possible than some other stories. Kinda.

I read some prior reviews before mine and some mention Takao's faults but I think that's not the message of this story. It starts off with Yoshinga literally forcing his feelings one someone who was obviously straight. They new each other since they were kids so I feel Yoshinaga kind of new what he was getting into. It seems unfair to only see negativity on one end of the relationship with it's dysfunctional as a whole. Even with the extremely sweet scenes afterwards one or the other does something to kill that
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(Takao responding to a girls text right after being with Yoshinaga or Yoshinaga punishing Takao)
so it's kind of equal with flaws. Takao is not the best partner but Yoshinaga kind of asked for it considering how they started seeing each other. I really like Yoshinaga though and think he deserves better but unfortunately this story proved that you can provide everything and spoil a lover and get nothing in return. It's pretty sad actually. Yoshinaga isn't without flaws either though. He's very possessive and it's probably due to insecurity since Takao just cheats without a second thought. I don't know, but these flaws are always parts I just enjoyed since it's new to me. Or I should say not as common.

Despite minor flaws I really enjoyed this story, even more so with the drama cd. I'd recommend it for people who can take more realistic aspects of BL stories.

When I first saw the uke, I wasn't sure if I'd like this manga or not, since a guy with messy hair and goatee isn't usually my type of uke. But, this story turned out completely adorable! I just love the relationship between Yoshinaga and Takao with all its fun and comedy. I don't usually like stories without angst, but this one is an exception since the characters are so lovable.

The other story in this isn't memorable, but it's still good for a quick read anyway. I just wish there was more of Yoshinaga and Takao <3

Gorgeous Art, Very Good Stories

ABE Akane's art is seriously one of the best I've seen. I love it. I could just waste hours staring. The stories were very good also. I especially like the warped characters in the first story. It is so different from what the BL world usually offers. The second story was very emotional as well. I liked this one just as much. This was a very interesting read!

Note: If you liked this one you should read the sequel Suki Toiunoni Nazekashira. It starts off with a story about Yoshinaga's boss and then continues with the first story of this manga. Again nice, weird, crazy characters. I loved it.

the story is very original, in fact I have never come across any manga with an awesome pairing as this one...the uke is a womanizer who's not aware of his great dependence to the seme and the seme is one manipulative bastard who tugs at the uke's psyche to knock some senses in him.

The art is awesome, the sex is beastly (as stated by the uke), and the story is dang adorable!

I guess one of the things that made this manga from being a cliche is the way the uke was so dense that he didn't ever get angry over getting raped or being forced into a relationship but instead went along with it because he liked the sex. Thats porbably also the reason why you kinda forgive him for constantly being a cheat 'cos really, hes just so stupid lol he's yet to discover his real feelings and i guess another reason why its ok is because the seme knows how to keep him in place and always punishes the stupid uke for his promiscous behaivour. The uke is also very shallow lol haha and sometimes the seme looked like a drag queen xD

in usual abe akane style, i really love the sense of humor used in the stories and love how all the characters are basically idiots.

unfortunately, both stories contain elements that I really don't like:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
infidelity and underage uke x older seme

so it spoiled my enjoyment of them. a lighthearted read nonetheless.

The main story is just great but the other one threw me off the loop. If it had gone for more depth maybe it would be better but some things are put out to maybe unintentionally disappoint you. Though the main one is definitely a great read.
