4 Volumes (Ongoing)

Usuzumi no Hate is a homage to several SciFi classics, while having modern interpretations. I have recommend this to my friends like "BLAME!, if you knew what was going on." The scenery is amazing and really gives a timeless and ongoing forever feeling. What starts out as seemingly short and vaguely stories becomes the shaping of Saya's (The MC) personality and goals. The short, almost standalone stories then become knitted into an overarching plot. It's well deserved in the Seinen demographic.
I appreciate that it takes troupes relating to a lot of SciFi, but it does not overuse them. The evil aliens/robots are a presence in the story, but they drive the plot forward as equally as the human aspects. There is decay with very little plant life, but there is evidence that every place was loved by the people who once lived there. There is a small animal companion, but it is more of a convenience then a cuteness aspect. There is a cute little girl, but she doesn't get into situations requiring saving any more often then the other characters, and she is treated as an equal in re guards to the hierarchy. Saya, the main character, is powerful and talented with her weapons but she is not OP, nor does she wear tight outfits revealing her curves.
The fight scenes are rarely narrated, which is an element I greatly appreciate. In a fight, you act almost by instinct and rarely form real sentences of thought. Occasionally there will be fragments of thought, which seem much more realistic for a life-or-death situation.
It has a lot of elements of past SciFi manga titles I recognize, mainly BLAME! and Battle Angel Alita. But there is a certain softness that neither of these titles have, and I greatly appreciate that.
