Description
Betrayed and robbed by his friend after arriving in India, Maya is left for dead in the middle of nowhere. As he's lying on the ground half conscious, he sees a white tiger that whispers, "Raton," and then transforms into a beautiful green-eyed man with long black hair who kisses him and then disappears. Caught by strange men after frantically searching for his false friend and belongings Maya encounters his mysterious apparition again but this man, Maharaja Vishuvendora, doesn't have black hair and green eyes. I had no idea what I was reading, the story was confusing af, and also problematic and made no sense at all.
Initially, I disliked Raja for being a snake to Maya and Visha for rejecting Maya over a fucked up situation but wanted to bring him back. In later chapters, turns out that Raja was rather caring as he lied to Visha to keep him alive and not wanting to lose him. (Poor) Visha must had been suffering to lose to a rival like Raja and thinking of him as a bad guy. Upon finally learning the truth, he felt like a bad guy himself. I don’t doubt that they’re both hot, and Maya is such a drama queen lol. The art is stunning, and the hot scene at the last chapter is sexy hot!

Beautiful, luscious art, amazingly interesting story, fabulous handle on sequential art techniques, but...!
This is one of the reasons why fanfiction writers are born. Re-writes. (This Japanese manga could inspire an an epic fanfiction novel....)
The characters are all compelling and complex, with potential for exploration, growth, maturation. But, after three chapters of stunning conflict build up, severe psychological and physical abuse, and hints of intriguing back stories, they are all tossed into insta-love and psychological insta-health in the span of two chapters. Gah!
It held all the themes I seek out (kidnapping, Stockholm syndrome, DV, fate, forgiveness, cultural restrictions, etc.), so I acknowledge my overly emotional disappointment to something that is fairly typical for a single volume BL. From that perspective, Tamaquis-sensei delivers a sensational, fantasy non-con-to-love story, which has its own happy following of fans.
