Rather thrilling

I'd read it again ..not sure if it is an entirely healthy reading..

If you purposely ignore some of the more or less veiled methods of cultivation.. it is quite a pure and charming story: traveling to another universe (..same map), alternate (?) history, freezing time, myths and legends, a character that does not seem very keen to do much but still has a lot on his plate and while dealing with the explicable and inexplicable the turn of events can be surprising..

On the other hand.. some aspects are rather disturbing and pessimistic, embracing the lord of misfortune.. travelling to another world is bound to a rather aggressive spirit with his own agenda: sometimes tamed, friendly, understanding, even supportive, but in the end cunningly waiting to eat the MC's soul (?!).. the enemies are so powerful that a simple mortal, even a stubborn mortal is unable to cope with: corruption, gangs, diseases can easily level everything and there are also dealings with fate, mysteries, gods, powerful martial artists.. ..however there is hope too, there are many brave and stubborn mortals, and even dead and defeated, their 'not giving up' spirit and story is undying..

Therefore, I am a little sad the story has to end.

Honestly, what a sublime piece of work. It is by no means the best manhwa ever written, but my God was it entertaining until its short hiatus. This is one of those murim manhwas where mc can travel between the murim world and modern world.

Story:
MC Strong, cool fight scenes and get romantic partner, ooga booga. But here's the thing, its fight scenes are grand and the story actually progresses. Revenge plots are scattered throughout the as of now, 270+ chapters leading to some of the most badass moments. The story also gets especially interesting as we move onto the Middle East arc, presenting me with some of the coolest characters. The first 10 chapters may get confusing if you don't read it carefully enough, but it gets better afterward.

Art:
While its art may not be as grand or lusciously drawn as some other manhua/manhwa, it stays consistently great for the whole duration. So I do not have much to say about it.

Characters:
It's almost as if the author has an obsession with stopping mc from obtaining happiness. His romantic interest is also great, she tries not to be entirely reliant on mc and has her shining moments. The side casts were also great, the leader of the murim alliance, the nun assassin, and the office worker were all pretty cool.

Overall:
If you want a rollercoaster ride, then Devil Sword King is what you're looking for.

What made this so-so? Well, I mean, the character kind of becomes edgy teenager around the middle to present-- sort of.

Not sure what his main plan in life is.. but who truly knows what they want these days?

Anyways, I read till chapter 211 or something. It's alright lol.

Oh yeah, there's some similarity with this and Descent of the Demonic Master. They

both saved a CEO and then ended up working with them or something to gain "power [of money]" against someone else with a lot of money that he can't fight against with just "power" alone.
