things i liked:
[+] art (god, the guys are gorgeous in this and the mixed friend? she was so cute. too bad we only saw her in different clothes like... three times....)
[+] shishio getting flustered all the time
[+] suzuzme being straight-forward, quirky, simply different from typical lead girls (in the beginning, at least)
[+] mamura not holding back when confronting shishio
things i didn't like:
[-] story is a literal mess. it feels like the mangaka didn't know what the hell she was going to choose until maybe the three last chapters and even then so much of the drama was so unnecessary (did suzume really have to go back?? did she have to make mamura feel insecure before leaving 😕 couldn't she tell him what was going on rather than make him feel miserable 😕 ?)
[-] yuyuka kind of just falling back into the shadows even when she's constantly the one putting suzume back on track. really wished we could see her relationship develop as well as her personality flourish a little more.
[-] suzume is far too clueless in some ways; i felt it was a little much at times.
[-] all the shy stuff about kissing, etc. suzume seemed more straight-forward in the sense that if she wanted to kiss someone, she would do it, so it was a little disappointing that she would freeze up or do nothing when she clearly liked the guy. like, he's not reaching for her hand? well, who cares, she just reaches out for it anyway! i honestly expected that all the time lol
overall, the manga was pretty good, though i wouldn't re-read it.
since suzume wasn't really a concrete character and went too soft for my liking, i liked shishio's character the most. he seemed more thought out than mamura and had some depth to his thoughts, emotions, and mistakes. mamura's biggest flaw as a character was the whole "she's different from other girls" nonsense. if i had a dollar for every time that's "the reason i love her" given.....
it sucked that shishio was a grown man, doing things that are expected of him, but when he decides "fuck it, i'm doing what i want and taking on the consequences for it," there's so much unnecessary drama? and although i loved the concept of mamura, shishio was more appealing in more ways than one (but, hey, i have a type and shishio fits into it 100%). still, the ending is alright and i understand why it would be done this way. was just too rose-colored for me.
eh, overall, it was good enough to keep reading, even if it was mostly because i liked the art a lot lol
