It certainly doesn't match up to Hikaru no Go or Shion no Ou, but it's an okay manga nonetheless. Quite a bit of fan service, and some of it is really kinda .. ;; Mainly this one girl who has huge boobs. I'm a girl, so that kind of excess doesn't really appeal to me. The art is nice, asides from veering into ecchi occasionally. Or perhaps even shoujo-ai-ish-ness? There are no strong guy characters yet, so I'm interested to see if that will change.
The plot looks relatively interesting, though often the manga veers into cliched drama. For example, there's one scene in a recently released chapter where Saki's walking along and all of sudden a group of girls has an extreme reaction to her presence... but there's no explanation for the reaction (like a picture of her aura, or even them saying how skilled she must be, etc..). It's obviously the manga-ka trying to show how powerful Saki is, but instead of making me impressed it just makes me cynical.
There's not much substance to the manga, either. It really doesn't seem very realistic, and there isn't much to the manga besides fan service and Saki's pwnage of other people (plus changes in her character that again, aren't well-developed). There is some humor (like the original premise), that pop out. But, it doesn't quite make up for its flaws.
Still, for what it's worth--a simple, sometimes amusing, kinda cute mah jong-centered manga--it's decent. I wouldn't expect much to arise out of it, but it looks like it'll be a fun ride.
