Description

Yamanouchi Kouya, the daughter of a famous author, is a shy young girl just starting middle school. She is named class representative along with Kannatsuki Yuuya, a boy she met on her way to school who frightens her a little bit. They are trying to work together, but he always seems mad at her and she is painfully shy. The thing is, Yuuya knows something that Kouya doesn't know yet—that her famous father is going to marry his mother!

Could have been better

But the ending was left open. Like, reeeeallly open. The story could be describe to as seinen, idk, it also felt like that. The characters were mature at handling things so it's a plus. I really like Yuuya's looks because he dearly reminded me of my first love lol. Also weird and alien feel like who thinks of going as far away as possible. But I was questionning about when did he start liking the heroine, is it on the train station? Was it attraction at first sight? I was also questionning about his genuinity. Because Kouya does like him even if she tried not thinking about it. I'm liking the pacing of the story, I really do! But it went "Ah? Ok?" at the last chapter. Because there are unresolved things that still needs to be tackled with, like

the dad in this story, he was still a playboy until the end! He didn't even visited his wife when she was in labor! And the stepmom, she was soooo nice but it felt like she was enduring her cheating husband until she dies. She doesn't deserved this. She deserves someone who'll love her wholeheartedly. His profession is no excuse to date other women. He shouldn't have married in the first place and just settle for dating other women and made Nanako(the nanny) hopeful until she dies lol.(well, she also doesn't deserved that, good thing she wants to move on for good). And that boy classmate of Kouya huhu, he can be a potential rival to Yuuya but he immediately got a girlfriend after being rejected. I hate those type of boys. He was also cheating on his gf as he still gives a gift to Kouya, that's insensitive of you. And lastly, Yuuya and Kouya's relationship. I mean, they're still a family in the end. So their parents will be against this relationship. But the mangaka didn't want to tackle on that drama so they just STOP at the middle where everything is calm before the storm. Yuuya sends a pic of a girl named Louisa, who's Louisa for crying out loud? Just a friend? ? and the ending felt like they just reunited in that time but the following years later, it seems like they will go on their separate ways and will not continue their lovestory. It really felt like that! A half baked relationship.

I wish the mangakas extended the story because there are so many things that should have been told, but it didn't.

Rushed

The art for the first 9 chapters stood out. 10-12 did not.

After the time skip the story rushed to finish up all the plotlines without really resolving them. The most interesting thing about this manga was how the step mom was trying to be a mom to the MC AND the discussion of how the dad wasn't really human anymore but the author dropped the ball on that chapter 10 onward. Much like Area D, read for the first half (chapter 1-9) and that's it.

I think the person who wrote this manga was in his/her own world with little regard of what and who have been around. Or maybe it's just a very peculiar case that normal folks like me have no experience or knowledge of.

But I don't feel relatable to this manga, the characters, and everything.

All I can add is the fact that what was especially interesting to me it how much it was like other shoujo I've encountered, and yet not like them. The girl finds the boy mysterious and fascinating, as girls often do in shoujo manga, but this time it seems real. I think that may be because the writer took the time to fill in the whole picture of his and her life and the lives of people around them. The result was that the story became more than just a standard, or schematic, depiction of a girl's love. It was like being inside the head of someone you know well—like a friend, sister, or relative, as she goes through this great unknown venture.

Sweet, gentle, and supenseful all at once.

Wasn't Feelin' It...

This manga is barely romance. You know those one-shots about romance that seem like it's going to be really nice and full-filling but isn't? That's how I would describe this one. I guess what it comes down to is I could not understand nor identify with the main characters. Maybe it's cause I'm male but I will never understand how women go for guys that trample on their feelings.

The dad in the story is pretty much a man-whore and seems to sleep with any women he is in contact with. The messed up part is he marries and still fools around and his new wife doesn't seem to mind either. The manga explains this behavior as material for writing his novels. If that wasn't bad enough the main character kinda plays everything off and does nothing about it. I just didn't understand the main characters feelings in this one. The end also seemed like it might have been rushed seeing how both Kouya and Yuuya kinda just are together yet going down different paths?

Mature Coming of Age Manga

There's something really beautiful about the story being told. I feel like the characters in the manga are actual people, and not one dimensional characters. Their feelings are natural given their circumstances, and the story leaves you feeling a little bit sad despite the unheavy atmosphere of the manga.

In short this is a mature coming of age manga that's sweet and realistic. Plus the art is just about as beautiful as it can get.

This manga has a beautiful sort of wistful feel to it. Very realistic and not overly dramatic. I love the main characters. Kouya is intelligent, level headed and independent and she seems real. The manga flows nicely and its not stuck on just romance but follows other important relationships too. I would strongly recommend this to anyone. Can't wait for the 3rd volume translation!

More realistic

For anyone like me who first read the discription and think: same old, same old - boy and girl's parents remarry, unexpectedly become stepsiblings, live under the same roof... And you know what happens next.
But this manga is different. Their thoughts and feelings are realistic and natural given their circumstances. It's a good coming of age manga
