I'm reading fiction for the wish fullfilment and to escape reality not to be bitchslapped by uncomfortably realistic family dynamics.
Dad AKA "Hunter of Hunters" -- The ace Hunter of Korea (or something) from what I can tell. Also a stoic, gruff asshole who refuses to talk to his son like a father should.
Mom AKA Sister's 24/7 caregiver -- She apparently forgot MC existed. Her entire life revolves around the comatosed sister. Couldn't even take one lousy afternoon to see her son at his once-in-a-lifetime graduation.
Man, what's the point of having children if you're not going to be parents? That's what I don't understand.
Sister AKA the Returnee -- Her spirit spent something like 6 MONTHS in another world while her physical body aged by 12 years in the "real" one. Not surprisingly she has the emotional and mental fortitude of a literal child despite being older than MC.
Like, she literally "talked it out" with the "bad" fairy queen instead of killing her. This was how she was able to return home; she solved the fairy world's problems just like that.
MC AKA the un-gifted -- His hunter talent is F rank. He can't do shit with his psychic chains. They're so weak if someone looked at them wrong they'd break. And that's being generous.
Turns out, despite his literal decade of (unguided, self) training, he's been pretty much using his abilities ineffeciently and incorrectly. Someone from a hunter school finally told him.
His father was too much of an asshole to care or even asses his own child all of those years, or MC would have likely gotten the professional help he needed much earlier.
He resented his sister when she was in a coma. His resentment became even more entrenched when she woke up and was pronounced by be higher than an S rank.
Only when he realized she was just as scared, alone and confused as he was did he take his head out of his ass.
Thankfully MC is a quick learner and grew a fucking pair. He only needed to make a mistake once before correcting himself.
Now he's going to spend the rest of his life protecting his sister because, again, she's basically only a child in a teen's body.
What a relief that MC is quick witted.
Also, I dunno who needs to hear this but shit parents equals shit kids, folks.
