It's not technically purple prose, but it drags just like it. The author goes into the main character's often insecure and oft repeated thoughts so much you can literally skip 2/3rds of a given chapter and lose nothing.
This author either didn't have the time to choose what thoughts to focus on or just doesn't know any better and assumes all thoughts a character has need to be experienced.
Beyond that, the main character does a couple of things that make me angry at him. He did, after all, justify
doing nothing to save a woman who then got raped
despite having the strength to fight off stronger and more numerous opponents.
He f****** justifies it. The manga at least made it look like it happened so quickly he didn't have time to prevent it. Not so with the novel.
He pretends to be nice but really is a PoS underneath.
The world building is slow, the characters... some are good and others are boring. The plot is subpar. I keep trying to find that something and its just not in this story.
The manga, despite the nudity and sexual scenes, did so much better in telling the story and not making me hate the main character (as much). I don't get what authors are thinking half the time when they do so much to sabotage their own stories.
I was hoping the novel would be less nudity and more story. What I got was more of the worst parts of a story and nothing better besides the lack of nudity.
I just can't get behind this story.
