This one was solid, and a bit more mature than most of the fare I read (I literary looked for ages for something more substantial and mature in the manhwa arena), but stuill quite lacking. I found both the ML and the FLto be pretty bland chars that didn0't strike ma fancy. She's a bit too much of a robot (it's explained why, but I expedted so much more development and she got very little of it), and he's... Just a cliche, predictable char, a son of a CEO who hates his dad and wants revenge,. Been there, seen that. They don't have any other special characteristics, and just slide down the grey char hole easily.
The reason I even read this was the 2nd male lead. He was a char with potential, a mentally unstable but brilliant sadist doing things for his own reasons. He had some yandere moments towards the FL, which was the very thing that drew me in. But sadly, this misfired too, and tbheir relationsup never gets the proper screen time to develop and be explained. The most intrguing, interesting bit of the manhwa was glossed over for... An awkward and frankly boing courtship between FL and Ml. Since both are underwhelming chars, it really didn't yell. I kept reading for the 2nd ML; but while he does get some screen time, no nearly enough and not nearly as intrguing.
And the whole backstory, about scheming CEOs and so on, was cliche to the max. So many manhwa have these elements in them it makes me slightly unhappy at how freely they abuse them and repeat them with an alarming frequency. Come on, grow up and do some realistic, mature stuff! I don't need another woman sold off for her parents debt and greedy conglomerates, I want genuine human emotions and relationships. There doesn't have to be anything to over-the-top. But meh, this manhwa takes the different route.
But mind you, it's not too bad. The drawing style was excellent, I really quite enjoyed it, and the theme wasn't a shojo one, whicbh is always a plus. There was potential. And now, for the paft of what would I have done to make this manhwa a cutting edge, more intrguing manhwa with a proper josei, mature theme. I would make this a complex love triangle between three damaged people. There the FL is torn constantly between the yandere 2nd male lead, and the slightly mentally unstable 1st ML. And she herself comes from a messy family where her father gambled away everything and got himself into some serious debt. I would make this emotionally heavy, and show how she slowly gets rid of the shadows of her past, and tries to make a new future.
Anyway, while not bad, it's not memorable either. Maybe worth reading, but don't expect too much. If nothing else, enjoy the drawing style!!
