Description

Once upon a time, Lalisa Blick was abused by her family, who wanted to take her diamond tears for themselves. Then one day, a prince appeared to save Lalisa and ride off into the sunset with her. But why was I reborn into this fairy tale as the evil sister, Marcia?! I need to leave this wretched house...but how can I leave my poor sister here in this hell hole? A light, surface-level, feel-good story

I read up to chapter 54. This story shows potential but falters in its execution. The FL is framed as a compassionate, almost saint-like older sister, to the point where she even feels guilty for not living up to this idealized image. However, the narrative leans so heavily into this framing that it neglects realism. For example, she is praised as “selfless” for letting her younger sister bite her hand during a seizure, a choice that is not only dangerous but also medically inaccurate. This undercuts the attempt at portraying her as empathetic, making her characterization feel forced rather than authentic.

The romance dynamic also reveals a clear imbalance. The ML is written as a well-rounded character, with competence and personality traits that could make him a genuinely appealing partner. Yet the FL’s perspective reduces him to surface-level attributes, his wealth, good looks, and pleasant voice. On the rare occasions she notices his deeper qualities, these observations are relegated to passing lines rather than meaningful moments of emotional impact. The result is a striking disconnect: the ML values her character above all else, while she responds to him as though he were simply a glamorous prize. This mismatch in depth not only weakens their romantic chemistry but also highlights the uneven treatment of their roles.

Overall, I would recommend this story, particularly because the ML is one of the better-written characters. While it doesn’t delve deeply into its themes, such as trauma recovery, it handles them respectfully, showing that trauma doesn’t simply vanish but requires time and support to overcome. The story maintains a light, surface-level, feel-good tone, which works well for readers who prefer romance that is uplifting without forcing them into darker or heavier territory. It stays in the “feel-good” zone while still acknowledging challenges realistically, allowing readers to enjoy the romance and character interactions comfortably, without being weighed down by the darker themes.

FL is gaslighting herself to believe that Duke Fabian who is way older than her younger sister to be the ML thru most of the series. Who the heck think it is appropriate to send their underage sibling to be groom by an older person.

Context: The fairytale that Marcia entered didn’t mention any of the character’s names.

Kind of odd that Marcia (the FL) thinks Fabian (who ends up romantically entangled with Marcia) is the love interest of Lalisa when he is so much older than her. Then Marcia enters into a contract marriage with Fabian while still believing he’ll eventually marry her younger sister. Am I the only one that thinks that’s weird?

It seems that the plot is too much for an adult to read. Kids might apprentice this kind of story. Wholesome? Oh no, please that's a wrong path of the story. It's childish, too childish that characters have their brains on their feet. Common sense is not sensing any longer, no logic nor understanding of the place. It's hard to make it understandable possible unfortunately. It's not that terrible, but it's too much of a headache to read something that too childish for you. Since I've already read numerous manhwas and mangas with this kind of similar plot my "give it a benefit of the doubt" is not working anymore, recommendations were also scams and reading similar are really disappointing much for a decade reader. It's too boring and repetitive.

Healing Type Manhwa

This is a strong healing type manhwa (MC and everyone else heals emotional scars) with several petty cannon fodder villains (although some are slightly interesting). The story is generic in most places, but it critically excels in one place leaving me to cry diamond tears of happiness.

(*) The main cast of good characters are quite dynamic, and I like all of them for once. My enjoyment of the story all comes down to me being pleasantly surprised by the main characters and how they are different from other manhwa of this type. I'm having a hard time describing the author's execution of the characters. Most people know what a normal hammer looks like and it should be good for hammering nails, but I've been sold 100 exotic hammers that are good at other things. Finally, this author sold me the epitome of normal hammers that hammer nails, and suddenly I am like, "Oh my gosh! This is totally what a hammer should be!" Excellent archetypal character execution. Sure is some good vanilla ice cream that I haven't had in a long time, made with high quality ingredients with a slice of $5 apple pie from the store. The real ichiban noodles and not a dubious dollar store knockoff.

(*) The FL protagonist is a kind-hearted heroine type. In most manhwa, the kind-hearted type does not fully please me. They are either too airheaded and naive, or they are too conditional and extreme (I'll be nice if people are nice to me. The people who abused me will vanish from the face of the Earth.) This time, the FL protag finally managed to slam dunk what I would consider a real kind-hearted type without being an idiot or being extreme. So impressive to finally see this character archetype done this way.

(*) The other character archetype that this story excelled at was the traumatized angel we all want to protect. Once again, the author has somehow been able to stay completely true to the archetype and pull it off without doing anything exotic and flashy just to grab my attention. Instead of being the main focus, or being some traumatized girl who turns into a revenge seeking villain, she is just a traumatized girl. However, she is a BROKEN ANGEL WE MUST LOVE AND PROTECT, but she is not the center of the story. Things are so different when this type of character is such a major part of everything, but she is not the center of the story and not everything goes well for her.

(*) ML, the prince/loveless duke archetype. So reasonable and yet still good. All the duke type stories always make them have goofball levels of twisted pasts, revenge plans, and hatred. This duke is just so reasonable and he has some outstanding moments where I am like, "This is so realistic and legit! I've actually been there and done that! This is a person, not a character."

Just one glaring annoyance

If it wasn't for the author over-milking the MC keeping up the belief that the ML is the protagonist's prince, this would be a much more enjoyable story. The way it handles a child character with long-term trauma is wonderful and the chemistry between the ML and MC and the MC and her sister is top tier.

But everyone is sick and tired of the MC's stubbornness in believing that her sister must end up with the ML because "he is her prince in the original story" (esp when anyone with eyes can tell who the original prince is supposed to be). The author seriously needs to stop bringing up this plotline every other chapter or resolve it soon because it is annoying as heck!
