Description
Eighteen year old Makoto Katagiri has faced numerous hardships thanks to his father's criminal behaviour and mother's death: he had to drop out after middle school and begin working in a factory to take care of his little sister. For various reasons he decides to re-enroll himself in high school and better his life. However, at the entrance ceremony, he encounters a "princess" whom he thinks has had everything given to her on a silver platter, not that her thoughts are any better. What will become of their time in high school?

I'm not the intended audience for this one

It's a seinen alright, with a pretty dark tone. While some of the things troubling the characters are related to romance and having friends and such (standard shoujo/shounen stuff), it gives off a dismal feeling and a sense of impending doom/drama/tragedy permeates every chapter (I guess it is intended). Most of the characters introduced so far (ch 18) are portrayed as unfunctioning members of a society, due to trauma or an arrogance-fueled twisted sense of belief; some worse than others. Art is nice.

With that said, I don't like to read stories which make me uncomfortable for the majority of the time, so this series definitely isn't for me and anyone with similar aversions. I will rate it according to my tastes.

This story offers a great and interesting setting of a special high school for dropouts, including not only young people but also a gramps and other kind of special people. Our protagonist starts his days over trying to become a graduate while also working at a factory to take care of his sister.

It has a shoujo art style but it's categorised as a seinen and it definitively fits into that category, as most of its themes are rather mature. Every character has their own problems and you see them growing up as the number of chapters increase, solving their problems and becoming more mature. I think the depiction of problem children here is very well done and touching.

This manga is also very focused on love, which do make it very shoujo-like but it's pretty fun and enjoyable. I would usually dislike such mangas, but in this case I was surprised at myself for liking this romance story.
