I wish Shouoto Aya decided to hire a writer

You see, SHOUOTO Aya has one of the best art. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said about the story. Unclear and disjointed story line, illogical action, and just like Oriolidae's comment, it feels like the artist just take random idea and put them into the story without elaboration to the story.

So far gorgeous

The first series i've read from Shouoto-san and it's Amazing! Not only is the plot with the Stigmas interesting but i'm really loving the characters, Kana is strong, likable. Aki is mysterious, cunning. And Jin! he's funny and i love the way he wears his uniform. Aki and Jin are reminiscent of the Touya and Satsuki from Millennium Snow But the setting's more darker then the light-heartedness of MS. Her art isn't disappointing. Very gorgeous with an Gothic touch. I love how she draws the guys' eyes.

I don't get the "Random" negatives reviews. it's not fast paced. i thought it transitioned very well. You want fast paced? Black bird is all over the place. this isn't.

Plus this is one of the Better vampire shoujos.

A Definite Read For Shouoto Aya
by Lucca

Rating: 9.0  / 10.0
Okay, first of all this comment is based off having read the english scanlations up to 17 and then continued on the Chinese raws up to 27 with basic knowledge of the language.

The art in this is beautiful. When is Shouoto sensei NOT beautiful? It's consistent and fluid and makes the characters and scenery look amazing. the action scenes are clear and easy to follow. Probably worth reading just for the art, if you're into that stuff.

Storyline is initally pretty shallow. Master/Servant, Vampires, Lycans and Tengu? Cliche to say the least. But wait! It deepens, gets better and best of all there is a clear explanation for all of it. It gets pretty jerky at your heartstrings particularly if you're a shoujo manga lover. Best plot out of Shouoto that I've seen so far. The only problem currently is that what is out in the English fandom at the moment is not yet to the point of revelation. Be patient and wait. You'll get your just desserts.

That said, world building is pretty limited. Not for those who enjoy immersing themselves in the world of the manga types.

Characters are cute, heartwarming and conform to some cliches. Kana gets some buff behind her later on but is pretty flat for a good while. Shouoto has used that time to build up the other characters (particularly Jin and Aki) and so she is left behind a little at the start.

Overall, a wonderful manga that works within it's stereotypes and has a solid explanation for the happenings. Nothing too mind blowing but a great read nonetheless. You should definitely be reading this manga if you like this sort of genre. Preferably by buying the books because it has now been licensed in English.

i love the charcters , they are just too cool
aki is cool and mysterious and kana is not one of those 'protect me!' girls and is strong
there is a lot of mystery! especially about their past!
the suspense of wanting to know what happened with aki's brother
and what change will happen in kana's life
oooooh, i just love this manga

Ahh, sweet bliss. This one has potential... Overall, this is good GOOD start. Vampires don't usually bring out the best in a manga, but that's okay for now. As long as something doesn't go horribly wrong, I can see that this will get popular, and soon.

Art: I'm loving this, as it is extremely hard to find a book that has art that I can stand. So far, similar great art from some others that I've read. On the art side of this, it is a compelling attribute that will draw readers in. Love the cover. Yay for eyecandy!

Plot line: Jumps right into the supernatural, but for me, it was a little abrupt. Until there is a major conflict, this will be a child's game. Perhaps later on, I will change my comment, hopefully complimenting the author's handiwork happily.

Characters: Kana is sweet, but she lacks something... if she had been raised to believe in supernatural beings, it would have been more believable. It's uncomfortable when thinking about the fluidity of her actions, which make it seem like she accepts things easily... perhaps extreme laidback actions can be viewed as acceptable for the future? The werewolves and further creatures should be explained sooner, but it still shows potential. Aki seems to not justify his actions of any sort, making it hard to grasp the whole situation and story.

I can see some humor in this, and the art is a huge key in bringing this up high. The art is high def, but I predict another "damsel in distress" at the most critical times manga. We'll see, but I'm happy as it is.

This is sweet

This one is really sweet... I mean, really cool. There's so many typical vampire shoujos that make you want to gag... to speak the truth, this wasn't on my priority must reads. However, I did read the first two chapters, and I must say it holds quite the intrigue. It FINALLY has a heroine that can stand up for herself (thank GOODNESS) and the background is cool... some twin brother rivalry going on... somewhere. Anyway, very interesting read, and most definately not like the usual vampire shoujo. I love how laid back the female lead is too... so refreshing

Interesting... Maybe

First, I quite like the art. That aside, it seems like an interesting vampire love story. The vampire clearly isn't the hero and the heroine seems to be hiding things. Childhood secrets and hints about other mysterious characters that have yet to appear makes this series seem like it will continue to be interesting. Hopefully some suspense builds up as all the secrets come into light.

Storyline Confusing Later On...

I couldn't agree any less with Sorcha and Oriolidae. As you read the raws of the most recent chapters (from Icarus Bride), the plot gets SO out of hand that even with my ability to just analyse the raws without understanding the Japanese is useless. I've never felt more annoyed and frustrated when reading raws because of my urge to want to understand the Japanese more than I ever did with Junketsu + Kareshi. When I read raws, just the images are enough to help keep me at pace, but with this series, from one image to the next, everything is literally random and a surprise one after the other. Then you end up thinking, "What the heck is going ON here confused !!" and 70-80% of the time, you literally can't even guess what's going on right away.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The plot is supposed to deal with Aki finding the seven stigmas, correct? Then how the heck does his twin brother end up taking over the tension... Up until now, the plot was supposed to revolve mainly around Aki's journey, but with his twin brother butting in, everything just goes down hill...
The good thing about these random surprises for readers who enjoy Shouoto's art is that it's still entertaining and suspenseful. Well, at least for me, it is. I dearly love Shouoto's art, and with Aki being my favourite male character from her that she's ever drawn, he's practically the only reason I'm sticking with this series until the end.

Since I don't take the plot line too seriously, I personally enjoy the surprises, but it ALWAYS irritates me that I just HAVE to feel more excited and impatient for the next chapter because of those unexpected events. It's so frustrating how my urge to understand what's going on with the current chapter can only be found in the next one, which would end up having another surprise of its own, and let me tell you: This just gets even worse in the most recent raws because you practically have no idea how things will eventually turn out.. I don't like reading a manga that's so full of random surprises that doesn't even flow together to the point that you can't even understand what the heck's going on, but at least Shouoto's art is worth the take for it.

If you're the type that gets easily annoyed at inconsistent plots, don't bother reading this series, especially if you're not a faithful fan of Shouoto's. I'm in love with her art style especially when she draws such smexy bishounens, so I don't really mind. Just keep in mind that after every chapter you go through, your impatience for the next chapter will irritate you more because of how the plot is inconsistently and incoherently driven.

(I give this series a rather bit of a higher rating ONLY because I love her male characters in this series. It kills me how my OTP of AkixKana is always interfered with by Aki's twin brother).

I'm currently reading and it's alright. Art is amazing and drawn with perfection. I LIKE, not love, every character except the lead. I don't know why but she pisses me off. Probably because every time she tries to save Aki, it's her who ends up being saved. My other concern is that sometimes Kana looks like a bishie instead of a girl and I keep thinking the student council president is a girl. Storyline fine, your usual slave and master vampire thing. I like the way she included the Stigma, very nice. I just wish that they include more insight into their past.
