Description

A prosecutor-turned-royal must race against the clock to solve a string of serial murders… before she becomes the next victim! When an overworked criminal justice employee is suddenly reborn into a novel as the rebellious Princess Charlotte, she also finds herself engaged to the handsome Duke Adler. Don’t really get why Charlotte (as a character) was getting so much hate (in the story) as the ‘delinquent princess’. Seems the only reason for her ‘bad reputation’ was simply that she refused to play the part of a demure and modest lady and dared [sarcastic] to openly show her affections.

I don't usually have a problem with isekais with shallow plotlines, but this one promised me a smart female lead and a mystery to solve, and the story seems to almost look down on its readers with the way it's being presented. I'm only up to chapter 21 but the clues to her future murderer are being shown to her on a silver platter, and the way she's shown to be smart is so lazy it's almost insulting.
For example, there's a scene where the female lead's half-sister brings a lawyer to the dining table to ask her questions to try and humiliate her, but either the author themselves couldn't think of a good enough question or just didn't know about the law in general, because the question is entirely censored with the subtitle "legal terms", and the FL actually answering the question was skipped to show everyone being impressed. I was almost embarrassed with the lazy storytelling, it feels almost desperate to have the reader know how smart the FL is.
The story also loves having very convenient things happen at will, just because the plot demands it. FL saves the ML's sister from bullies, they run off screaming, he follows the sound; that's reason enough for him to be there, sure, but the FL was holding a bottle and drops it for no reason right before he walks in, just for him to misunderstand and think she's the bully?? It's a really stupid stretch...
Another example of plot convenience is when the policeman shows her crucial evidence for the very same serial murder case she's investigating on, like, a whim. Sure she's disguising as a drunk commoner but he really did NOT have to do that LMAO
Besides that, art is nice and ML is nice. Nothing much to say on him so far. Recommended for everyone who likes blushing MLs like I do, though! Not so much for those that don't like fast romance
