Description

Our main character was an unsuccessful romance fantasy novelist when she gets into a hit-and-run then wakes up as the villainess in a best-selling martial arts novel. She uses the information from the novel that she had analyzed in her original life, in order to avoid her death-ending and finding the truth behind what had really happened to her.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the female characters in this manga (good and bad). They’re strong, diverse and complex (not one dimensional). And there are several of them, not just one token strong female character surrounded by “damsels in distress” or “whiny useless types“ or “bimbos”. I’m McLove’n it!

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but I think anyone who gave this a low rating either didn’t give it a fair chance or hates fun.

The art was beautiful. The story was satisfying. And I had a great fucking time.

10/10, no notes, will absolutely be re-reading in the future.

Beautiful art, predictable story, underwhelming ending

The artwork in the story is beautiful. The storyline is a bit predictable and I was OK with that. What got me was how underwhelming the ending was. I’m hoping this has side stories to flesh out the loose ends.

Mixed Bag

TLDR: Great art can't save poor writing.

Artwork ranges from average (for the most part) to absolutely stunning (the MC action scenes and static poses). I think the artist also flexed sometimes by using non standard pov positioning. Kinda nice to see.

Sadly, the characters, plot, and setting are weak. The MC and her love interest have a little bit of fleshing out but everyone else are thin/shallow. The general plot is ok but the storytelling is horrible. The flow and pacing are bad. The settings is some sort of fantasy murim/wuxia world with some rather vague boundaries.

UPDATE on 4/4/25 Finished it. Kind of predictable but a good enough ending.

It starts off promising and the art is nice, but the main character is just a super conceited Mary Sue who constantly just stumbles into OP powerups. She doesn't seem to have any real direction, but just moves as the "plot" moves without any clear reason. Often times, they'll say one thing and then go towards somewhere, but a few chapters later it will be completely forgotten.

As others have mentioned, she's especially dumb. Like really dumb... Just like how the storyline itself doesn't seem able to remember where it's headed, the MC is constantly doing stupid things that put her life in danger for no reason. I don't mean like she steps in the line of fire to protect someone, she'll just do really dumb things that put her life in danger because plot. She also constantly does things that put her guards' lives in danger. Of course, because she's Murim's own Mary Sue, everything always works out swimmingly for her.

She wouldn't be a Mary Sue of course without her legions of fans and weirdly obsessed 2D villains. Everyone who is good loves her, even if they don't have any reason to. All those who don't love her are 100% comically evil. There is no in between. The ML naturally fell in love with her instantly for no reason and shows his affection every chance he gets. All she has to do is barely acknowledge his existence for this grown man, who is of course supposed to be amazing in every way, to start falling all over himself.

I really tried, in part because I stupidly bought a ton of chapters when I first thought that it would be amazing, but I'm dropping it at chapter 95. It has truly been awful cringe reading since near the beginning...

Basically there will be nothing new here, if you're familiar with the subgenre (cultivation novel isekai)

The mc is ...competent at times. Sometimes curiously so, when you consider she was just a writer, even if she has memories of her host body (which isn't brought up nearly as much as it should be).
But then she just randomly eats a magic plant at one point....why the **** would she do that?? Idk.

also the first chapter ends with a preview and summary of the next bunch of chapters, which was just really really annoying. I highly recommend you skip over that and just move on to chapter 2, so as to not ruin your experience.

The romance is waaaaay too rushed.
The novel's original male lead is an annoying bore, in the way that it feels unbelievable that he would be the protagonist of a novel in the first place.
Also the apparent original female lead of the novel's relationship with the male lead feels like it doesn't quite make sense either...but it's possible that's explained down the line, as there's a single hint that there's more to the story.

The FMC is, unfortunately, OP in a way that feels completely unearned. (I was hoping the story would be about her building her skills, it's not)

So basically, it's just an ok story. It has many faults that mean it simply can't be rated higher. But I enjoy it at times, so it's getting a 6.

good story, good characters, good romance

The story flows well, the characters are interesting, the MC is a rare one for the genre, and the ML is wonderful. Their relationship is healthy, hot and sweet. The MC gets powerful and inspirational. The villain is horror style creepy. Good story.

Many people said it was funny but I didn't see it... I actually thought it was kind of serious.

...wow.

First she ate a 1000 year old plant that could be deadly WITHOUT a shred of caution. Didn't even wait for anyone else to come and make sure she doesn't die when she stuffed the entire damn plant into her maw.

And then she willy-nilly threw a fucking energy ball in the midst of poor visual conditions due to a smoke bomb from someone she's trying to capture.

Thanks to that protagonist halo

she conveniently kills someone the readers severely dislike, and who was abusing her with drugs, instead of her own entourage in the middle of a very narrow alley.

Now she takes off her mask during a dangerous, undercover mission? What's the point of wearing it then? Why? Because the knife wound on her cheek is poisoned? Girl, it's called getting away and then taking care of the injury!

Like, no, this all happened within 20 chapters. I'm actually impressed at how consistently stupid this FL is.

Really great isekai with a badass FL

I have enjoyed this manwha a lot and I’m impatiently waiting for an update. The art is gorgeous, the story is good and I love the main characters. ML is both strong, cute and respectful with an intriguing past. His relationship with FL is adorable and healthy. The FL rival trope is completely subverted as she is actually inspired by the FL’s strength and feel a kinship to her. And FL is so badass while still remaining human, with doubts and feelings. I see people in the comments calling her overpowered, and yes, she is quite exceptional. But that comes with the genre, and I see overpowered ML all the time and no one is complaining about them. I stopped reading Teenage Mercenary, The player of the tower of whatever and so on because they flatlined on emotion and plot. This one is actually an amazing mix of shonen and shojo as it has qualities from both genre.

Awesome comedic Mary Sue

The side characters' expressions are so cute. I had tons of laugh while reading this. ML reminds me of Nine Photon from his cuteness. FL is a Mary Sue but I think that's expected because of the given title, and she's cool. Art is beautiful, too many screenshot worthy scenes. Can't wait for Season 3.
