Description

Helmut was only a baby when he was left in the Forest of Pahe, an evil place full of beasts where sinners are banished for eternity. Luckily, one magical beast and an exiled swordsman take pity on him and raise him as their own. But with a dark seed growing inside him, Helmut decides to take up the sword to prevent the seed from turning him evil. As Helmut grows stronger, he seeks out the family that abandoned him, but will Helmut end up following his human heart or his beastly instincts?

-_- I lost all interest after the artist changed for the 3rd time...

Art quality is decent but compared to before is bad which makes it even worse.

This reminds me of few korean IP's where this happened a lot and mainly reminds me of Legendary Moonlight Sculptor where artstyle changed from unique to mediocre to generic slop art.

I hope the new artist's skill improves once I pick it back up again after couple or artist and author changes, bizzare af.

Very strong start, first season was fun to read and was interesting. Second season had an art change but I was fine with it, but the school arc... man it really just killed my enjoyment for this story for now. It feels like just every other fantasy magic school manhwa with mc going around impressing teacher and doing mundane tasks with his classmates. It's just a slog to read now especially the first chapters of season 3, hopefully this changes soon but I've lost interest for now.

It started off great, then took a turn for the worst

This story which was very good at first, managed to disappoint me at every turn when the second season came out (chapter 41).

The original premise was good, well handled, and consistent.

A boy who was cast away to die, managed to survive and starts yearning for a human world he has never seen.

He receives love in the form of a leopard beast who took him in and has raised him, and a mentor who will prepare him for his future trials.

Art is great (landscapes and action scenes).
Characters are fleshed out.
The writing and pacing are good. Everything is not given, so you naturally get curious about the world they live in (which is a key point for me to like a story)

Then the author and artist were changed for the second season and everything fell apart:

Art is different obviously with key points that didn't cut it for me: the shape of the characters' face and their body. They are just not the same person. Where is the round face of a 15 year old boy? Also action scenes are less impactful.
The flow and the mood of the story have also changed, with the main character becoming very talkative and confiding overnight, when he was a man of few words the day before. It's especially disconcerting since he asks for advice from somebody who wants to be left alone.
Writing devolved from an adventure story in a dark fantasy world to the cliché and overused "nobles are superior to commoners" school arc.

The presence of a school arc did not actually bother me that much at first, but only if it had been handled differently, and not made into this mess of stereotypes and bad writing plot devices.

I thought the story would focus more on Helmut bonding with kids his age, learning from teachers and the man who took him in, and finally expand towards the mysteries involving his identity.

All in all, the new art is underwhelming, and the new writing is bland, which made in turn the story inconsistent.

Its a pretty decent story but the way the author tries to mix rather serious stuff with innocent/childish academy life clashes rather badly and i really don't like how

the author cripples the MC by not letting him kill people because that would make his dark seed go out of control.

So i would give it an IGN 7

Somewhat good > Somewhat decent

It's been a while since I've read a story that doesn't have regressions, isekais, transmigrations, some kind of transformation from an item, system, etc., or some such plot tools, how sad it is that just not being among those makes a story somewhat fresh in recent manhwa.

This one is about a kid born with some sort of dark seed that's abandoned and survives against impossible odds thanks to the seed and an altruist leopard. The story (so far at least) is mainly him getting stronger, learning to control his demonic surges and struggles to live along humans. As it often happens, he meets one evil or bully per decent person. Because of a setting I won't spoil the MC can't kill (or shouldn't), this is a bit of a bummer, I don't like MCs that murder for the sake of it, but letting go someone that will pose danger later isn't smart either, balance is key.

The good, is a cold collected MC that doesn't overreact over every little thing and doesn't go collecting a harem or acting like a perv, he also doesn't seem to be blinded by gold, all good if a bit bland, given he lived isolated maybe he'll change with exposure to society.
Other big one is the art, the char designs are good, but nothing special, the backgrounds and details on the other hand are amazing.
Overall, a good read, nothing great so far but has potential.

Edit: The second season goes into the recurrent "academy life" arc, which derails from what made the story interesting in the first place, the end of this season on the other side is a good improvement. As for the 3rd season, it's still ongoing but for the time being it seems to go back to an MC centrist focus, to be honest I find the MC too adapted to city life and human interactions given his upbringing. I don't dislike the new route the story taking, but I have to echo others' opinion that it's not as good as I had hopped. Which is a standard, a good start to fail to maintain an interesting story. I hope it improves but I'm not holding my breath. Changed vote 6.5 > 5.5
