The Pains of Unrequited Love

Love isn't always butterflies and rainbows...
Sure not having someone return your love hurts..
In love, not everyone is a winner...
Souta is just like a normal person who experience unrequited love in his life..
After Saeko broke his heart, he went to Paris to learn how to be a chocolatier...
With not enough money and connection, his only driving force is Saeko's love for chocolate...
Souta's life changed completely and unexpected encounters came to be...

This manga is amazing and I completely love it!!!!
The scenarios are relatable and very engaging that I've managed to finish reading this in one sitting...

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
There are issues about adultery and cheating that are included in this manga...
And I know it's normal to be turned off..:
But if you look past it and try to understand their actions...
I can say that this manga is beautifully written

I totally recommend this manga...
It's deep and very meaningful!!!!

for food only!

I'm just here because of the food nothing at all. After the first chapter, it already make feel annoyed because of the characters. It is impressive how the characters

*I'm sorry for the word* are stupid. I don't know how the author make up something like this but its not really nice. I pity the guy because "why will you revolve yourself in one objective?" I mean its nice that you thought to move on to your life but in the end your still stuck on the same loop. The loop to impress the girl you'll never have and you deserve much better than her. I know this is only fiction but there's much better story than this. The author already have a potential but I think its not really polish well enough. I think its much better if doesn't involve with romance.

so the only I want is the food.

I'm really interested in this manga

I'm not rating this manga because I was only able to read the first two chapters. But I still recommend it.
The truth is that the main character has delusional way of understanding love and he is not able to stop being infatuated with a girl. It doesn't matter if the real girl is totally different of the idealized girl of his imagination. But this is the kind of story the mangaka is telling. And I don't know if it is going to be a tragedy or if the protagonist is going to be able to grow up and have other way of understanding love. (But If I think in After School Nightmare and X-Day, the characters are able to grow up and understand more whom they are. Perhaps in this story the main character is going to overgrow a bit his flaws)
I disagree with the comment that says that this story is romanticising abuse. Mizushiro Setona explores human psyche in her works. And sometimes it can be very intense and dark: the characters darker elements are explored. But she does it in a realistic way. The actions of the characters have always consequences and they have good and bad effects in the other characters. It is a process of gaining knowledge through experience and healing themselves of their obsessions and worries. It is about gaining self-awareness.

The chocolates look delicious

Great characters, good art... Everything else is good, but there's nothing that really jumps out and grabs you. The series does get slightly better later on. But as of the scanlations released now, it's not extremely impressive. The plot is fairly unique, but not so much dazzlingly presented. Don't get me wrong; it's a great read. Mizushiro Setona really knows how to get the readers to feel the atmosphere of the manga. The romantic tension, the bittersweet feelings, and the sadness of it all... But it's not intense enough. Reading Shitsuren Chocolatier made me feel like I was watching a guy and his romantic life through a window. It doesn't draw the reader into the emotions of the manga like an excellent drama would. However, Shitsuren Chocolatier still is great, just not excellent.

But the chocolates look epic. I liked this series, but I liked the chocolates more. [However, I can't really rate the chocolates part in the story because I don't have a deep knowledge on chocolates. ): All chocolates look tasty...]

@TheAlmighty: Unfortunately, there are guys who have an obsessive love like that. And sadly, there are exceedingly stupid [and materialistic girls] like that out there too. I personally know a few in real life, too. But I've read up to volume 2 and on the way

Souta and another girl start going out. If I remember correctly, it was Kaoruko. Even though this series isn't categorized as smut on MU yet, I also recall a sex scene with Souta and Kaoruko in volume 2.

It infuriates me SO MUCH

It's ridiculous. No self respecting guy can go on loving a girl like that. In a twisted way, his obsession with her is amazing and if any girl were to be in that type of attention, she would feel flattered, if not creeped out, but then again there is always that one manga that does make creepiness look romantic and hot. But this. This is just taking it one step too far. If any one does like the main hero, the girl that he's obsessively in love with will be an instant turn off to the story.

Edit: @melon-ramune-freak
I've read up to vol 4.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I know he goes out with another girl. But it's just another tactic for him to aim for the girl he loves.
bascially everything he does is all for her and when I say everything, i do mean everything. While his tenaciousness is admirable, it's also infuriating.
And maybe this type of guy and girl exist in real life. but i just can't like a character like them in manga. as I said. self respecting. people like that don't have it in manga or real life. To be fair, the author's molding of his character is impressive, but nothing about it is appealing.

Honestly, I love this series. It's amazing.
As someone who's been wanting to become a chocolatier for the past five years, I honestly adore it. I can sort of relate to Souta - in a more adolescent fashion as I'm only 15 - because I was inspired to become a chocolatier after I was heartbroken by my first crush.

It's lovely. The art is ... - simple, but still lovely. It's not a work of art (but the food does look nice!) but it's very cute.

Aagh!! If Souta were real. And if were a few years older, I'd marry him.
