Yukari was enjoying her single life until her elder twin sister, Ayaka, suddenly pays her a visit with a young man in tow, to ask for some strange advice! This is a story about a set of mismatched twins. (From Stiletto Heels)
5 Volumes (Complete)

Kind of similar to Kimi wa pet, only at the part where a homeless guy starts living with an older woman. But that's it, the rest of the story is different.
I love the down to earth characters and how the relationships were played.
The husband and wife.
The two strangers.
And the sisters.
Worth the read!
I read this manga straight up to the latest scanlated chapter, vol 4 ch 18. This really live up to it slice of life pacing. I like Yukari character design and her fashionable clothing. Other are just okay. Naomi is not that striking. This manga also don't use much tones. I understand most josei manga tend to use less tones but others do, to convey the atmosphere. Overall, I found the humor and charm in this manga partly average. Maybe I have been continuously reading slice-of-life these days and these manga were really entertaining - had me laughed, cried, felt sorrow, etc that Futago fell into my average category. I might need to reread this probably to be able to capture the charm of this manga that most commentators are saying here.
Only Iketani Rikako could write up a story like this. The characters are so realistic that their emotions and the tensions between them are practically tangible in the story. Plot is what totally drives this manga, and it is executed brilliantly. The drawings are stylistically unique and clean, but the best part of Futago is definitely the plot 😀
Be warned that there are some mature scenes, though.
I have serious trouble understanding everything that goes on in the minds of the women in this manga. And that's a good thing, there's no linear, simplistic characters here. This is some good Josei manga, probably easier appreciated by women but it's worth giving a shot for all. It's pretty thought provoking, what with all that's going on.
Angsty josei manga. Hell yeah? I don't know. It's interesting.
Saying that I love Futago would be an understatement. I really love it. For a woman my age who have "been there, and done that", I could see every bit of myself in Ayaka and Yukari. It is so realistically beautiful that despite my nature of being a chronic procrastinator, I would read this one immediately after the release of every chapter.
Props to Iketani-sensei and Stiletto Heels team!
I had a great time reading the few chapters scanslated (by the way, the translations and scan quality were EXCELLENT!). I would love to read more.
The main character and her twin sister are not the stupid, giggling messes that manga girls so often are. They're messy in a more mature way, and they have their problems, but they seem more like real people. I like the guy, too. He's sweet. Not as notable as the sisters, though.
Definitely one I recommend.
I wouldn't say it is exciting or breathtaking, but the fact it is free from your typical
shoujo crybabies and other annoying stuff makes it a fair relaxing reading.
Though I've only read about 2 chapters, I'd say the plot is going on slightly slow,
but it isn't boring.
Decent enough to be read with a cup of tea.. but it may develop in something even more interesting.
If there's no plot developments further, I'd drop it and search for something more exciting
I have to admit that I'm not a huge of the older woman-younger man romances, but there was something about this manga that made me wanting more.
The characters are generally likeable and the plot is subtle, yet surprisingly refreshing. You want to cheer for the two couples, but sometimes idiotic actions from certain characters force you to reevaluate who you've been cheering for this whole time---but it's not like any of them are particularly distasteful.
There has only been 10 chapters translated thus far, so the story might end up having more twists---we'll just have to wait and see. I recommend this one for all shoujo/josei lovers!
How come there are no comments here?
I was finding a josei to read because Nodame Cantabile is way too good for me and I can't find any manga which can match up the the humor of Nodame. I am so tired of reading Shoujos where the heroine is always a cry baby and wll depend on the male protagonist then will suddenly fall in love with him. the flow goes on depending on the author.
But Futago is different. I love that it has a different story than Nodame but I love the similarity with the humor. It also has the ability to touch the heart of a reader. About sisters who had to live in different pathways. It has a tinge of love story and it's very refreshing. it's not all about love on your boyfriend only.
Although i've read only until chapter 9, i am so looking forward to the next chapters. i just hope how it started with such enjoyment also ends that way. That's why this manga is placed number 2 next to Nodame.
I hope the scanlators would continue to update it. Thank you for the great scans Stiletto heels! Thank you so much Iketani Rikako. 🙂
