angsty, fine

I thought this manga was decent enough, nice angst, although the ending kind of glosses over the major problem the couple seems to have. Would have been better to see more evidence if indeed the omega is still suffering by being marked by an alpha.

I'm so confused why people think this is a tragedy😕 Okay, so the omega was marked or whatever, but he doesn't love that man? Is it a tragedy to marry someone who already has kids, the largest "mark" that they will forever be linked to another person? I honestly don't get it; as long as the two love each other, who cares about the details? I saw the tragedy tag and was expecting them to go their separate ways, or even character death, something TRULY devastating. Not this mild, AT BEST, angst that seems virtually solved by the last chapter. Y'all are wildin.

A refreshing plot. Also I agree with alicele, this needs a 'Tragedy' tag.

Thank god I always check the comments before reading any story. At least I was prepared for the tragedy in the middle of this manga. This was very sad but even if the outcome is actually causing pain (physical and emotional regret) for both Kei and Tsugi, I believe their happiness of being together and deciding to go through all that together is what's important.

I tried to blame any of the two main characters for what happened but I couldn't. I understood their standpoints and that from their perspective the idea of them being together was just impossible. Kei feared the burden of his physical condition so he didn't even try to figure out what Tsugi meant for him and Tsugi believed that Kei's dream is the only thing that would make him happy and therefore acted cold and didn't want to burden him with his true feelings for him. And in addition of miscommunication, fear, pressure and the role of that piece of... alpha, they didn't have more time to re-consider their goals and choices and finally the tragedy happened. But at least they got through that together and figured out what is truly important for them

Also I would like to disagree with the people upset about the story not following the omegaverse rules. I actually found it quite refreshing, I especially liked that ABOs here followed their will and feelings even if it means enduring pain as long as they're with the one they love (not just because of lust, heat and rut) this gave the characters more depth than in other stories where the ending was always expected and the same.

I liked this story and I wished it had more chapters where it shows the struggles that Kei and Tsugi would go through and how they're gonna endure and overcomie them.

Doesn’t really follow Omegaverse rule

This one sort of breaks the rules for how Omegaverse is supposed to work, though I’ve seen ones that do it worse. So if you can forgive having a convoluted setting and then breaking the rules for said setting then it’s pretty good. It is definitely kind of sad, but basically all of the consequences were what got selectively left out, so everything turns out ok in the end? It is occasionally nice to see a story where the super elites are just as bad of people as they are in real life.

How the f*ck is possible to resist alpha partner after being marked? I thought Omegas can’t be pregnant with betas’ children. This one is confusing. And the sex scene at the last chapter is bad.

An omega in denial for a pre-set reality
by Linzz

An omega in denial of what he trully feels and instead, faces the reality of sub-genders set in an omegaverse world. Kei is an omega who dreams to be paired with a rich, handsome alpha one day and "trains" to be the best housewife - and soonest. Kei's pheromones is unlike any other omega that even the strongest supressant can't conceal all of them. This pushes Kei to find his alpha soonest, be paired soonest, and have his pheromones stable the soonest. But apparently, his heart is inclined to a beta who, in reality, cannot help with Kei's situation.

This manga composes a setting for which the omega has no other choice but to be paired with an alpha, accompanied by love or not. In this case, Kei tried to find the best alpha for himself but have always failed to create that perfect family picture that he had always been imagining. And this is mainly caused by his closest friend, Tsugitsugu who happens to be a beta and understands Kei's situation more than anyone else. Without any other choice, this creates a great diversity to Kei's story, personality and actions. The same goes with the beta Tsugitsugu. And both their actions hurt the both of them because they knew the harshness of the reality of the world they live in - which is the best part of the story.

If you're in for some smutty drama with a mix of a weirdo rich and blockhead alpha as a minor character, this is totally a great book to read.

Needs a ‘Tragedy’ tag, I did not sign up for this

Please don’t read it if you’re weak to tragedy. I didn’t expect it to be such a depressing and tragic story. I read all the tags and there was no ‘tragedy’ and the likes, why? Why was that considered an alright ending? My heart could not take this manga.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
This is the first ABO I regretted reading. How could a marked omega marry a beta? Isn’t it unbearably unfair for the beta? I seriously can’t imagine how they live happily together, when everyday he wakes up seeing his husband’s neck, which is marked by another man; whenever they have sex, they remember that horrible fact while the omega is feeling nauseous by his own husband. The beta deserved so much better. Why... just why did it have to end like that? It could have been better if it had turned out he hadn’t been marked, and the medicine could have been better developed to suppress the omega’s heat.

It is the most unexpectedly frustrating ending I’ve ever read in my life.

I really, really, really love this!
I'm a fan of ABO but if you've ever read anything from this genre you would know how messed up it usually be. In every omegaverse omega are always the one who get hurt. They are weaker physically and sexually, they get attacked and hated from social and have to fight for everything to be able to live a normal life. They yearn for respect, freedom and love. I often think of them as women in the old times, when they were treated like a tool, a sin, a slave without soul. That pains me so much.

If you're into ABO like me but not fond of tragedy, I recommend you to read omegaverse in novel, especially in Western and Chinese novel, there omega are treated like decent human being or - due to their attractiveness and rarity - treasured with love and admiration.

The Glass Slipper Symbol
by starstruckbyacomet

Rating: 8.0  / 10.0
@OmNom: Well, the glass slipper is the symbol of Cinderella. The main character resembles a Cinderella as he was waiting/searching for an alpha prince charming to save him.

I think the manga is really good. The drawing is just slightly above average for my taste, but the story is surprisingly delicate and well written. SPOILER ALERT for the next paragraph... (sorry, I don't know how to use the spoiler masker sad )

The pace of the story is good, not too long to be dragging but not to rush to make you numb. Thus, the message is conveyed sufficiently. It has potential to be a more complex or tragic story, but the mangaka stopped at a decent point. For this I eternally grateful, because I don't have the heart if the uke should face more hardships than he'd already had ^_^

I love the how the mangaka uses the flashback plot to explain the background story, and to disclose an inferiority complex and the love for the seme beneath the uke's shallow, selfish, and proud facade. Also love that the inner thought of the seme was not shown until the very end, although it's easy to guess. The antagonist is also quite well written: a jerk who does not realize that he is being a jerk, but not 100% bad either. More like a spoiled, childish, and annoying character, rather than evil. Even the rape scene could be considered as an accident (under the influence of pheromones).

One of the high point of this story is that the hardship faced by omegas in the society is very well described. Being an omega is like being a handicapped person in our society: not able to do the job well due to physical constraint, subject to ridicule and abuse, marginalized by society, and being in constant danger of attack at his weakened state.

Finally, to anyone who don't like omegaverse: I used to be like that, but then I I gave it another chance, and surprisingly found several good stories. The omegaverse is like a dystopian society..... driven by lust. In a well written story, it could convey really important social messages, but in a poor written one, it's just a justification to write overly perverted and meaningless sex scenes.

I truly enjoyed every bits of this manga, i read this after reading another manga with a super lame seme which happened to be alpha(totally different from the main character here), Tsugitsugu was such an amazing character. It made me change my belief that a manga focusing on a beta would be boring and pointless.
Really... What a great read, i just want more.
