I accidentally read the sequel first, and it was better than its prequel. The characters in this prequel seemed more shallow, and their feelings could change at the drop of a hat. Maybe it's trying to portray how short and fleeting high school crushes are but still not my favorite aspect of this story. Near the middle Junhyun became more straightforward, which I was a big fan of in the sequel. But on the other hand, Jigoo seemed like a totally different character in this story (until it neared the end). The story itself was pretty basic in the high school student coming of age childhood friend crush kind of way, but these type of stories were always my weakness so I liked it overall. The art was different and interesting in that it played with color highlights on a sketchy art style. But I still recommend the sequel over this, and both could act as standalone stories.
