Sura's Beloved

Description

Deep in the mountains is a village that offers prayers to the mythical Asura/Sura in order to stay protected. Doctor ‘Cho-ah’ who lives in the doctor’s town ends up saving a mysterious man named ‘Mujin’.

This encounter marks the end of Cho-ah's peaceful days as he gets caught up in a whirlwind of events.

Let me start by saying that with the exception of this story I love all the work by Shin Yuri. I especially love the artwork style. It’s beautiful.

That being said, I really don’t know how to rate this story. I started to read it because I love the author/artist so much however, as the story went on, and I saw no redemption in sight, I became increasingly uncomfortable to read a story about a ML who is essentially a psychopath and MC that is destroyed mentally and physically…

This is NOT a love story - this is not a romance…There is no main CP (that would imply that this was an actual relationship, when in reality it isn’t).

The ML constantly manipulates and constantly engages in non-con and dubious-con acts with the MC.

This goes beyond what I'm used to in terms of a violent, toxic, possessive lover. I'm glad other reviews gave me a heads up to expect a real monster. There's something especially sinister about it when the MC is so oblivious. Still, by the end of season 1, I'm 100% rooting for the monster.

And this art is PHENOMENAL. The use of color is just.......ack. So good!

s2e41 The bottom says no and stop and asks to close the door, top forces him

The bottom is raped numerous times by antagonist characters.

There is also a dubious consent or rape by deception factor with even the more consensual sex scenes (since the top is intentionally hiding information from the bottom that would change his opinion on the top)

Now first of all, I love Shin Yuri, but holy this story got me. It has been a long time since I read such a dark story where I almost couldn't get over the messed up plot. And that says a lot, cause I absolutely love a yandere mc. But oh my god I'll be thinking about this story for a while...

Love the art and the concept it attemped but sheesh I think so far it's being executed poorly. I love the premise of a cute, naive male MC and an obsessed MC who will do anything (and really...ANYTHING) for the uke but ugh the events that keep happening makes me just want to drop this...maybe will revisit it one day (right now on chapter 20+)

seme kills everyone at the temple.....due to jealousy and uke not wanting to go away with him.... even though most of the temple were probably not evil, seme wears a skinned face mask of someone he killed....., uke gets r*aped like three times by seme's old friend, author makes it that uke enjoys it when it happens (but at the same time hates it), and somehow seme in the past was EVERYWHERE AND STALKERISH but now that uke needs him whenever he's raped he never seems to be around....???!!!! and then omg a THIRD 'LOVE INTEREST' APPEARS IN THE STORY???!!! OMG I just remembered that the ex-boyfriend probably will come back too sheesh .
