I didn't enjoy it. The artwork is amazing but the story felt rushed and the only character with some kind of development was Shio. I would've loved a little more depth and more plot into their relationship.

Super relaxing and fun to read

It’s really portraying an adult relationship. They work out their feelings and figure out their relationship without creating unnecessary drama~
Another great story following “Sangen tonari no tooii hito”… I really like this author’s works!

With all the assault etc. in BL, this was so refreshing. I want to see more sweet, almost compliment kink / praise kink work. Why is this fluff so hard to find?

Simple, but sweet, endearing and poignant. I keep returning to this story because it has such a pleasant, light feeling. No unnecessarily extended stress, no artificial love triangles or weird plot devices; just an adorable story of two unique people falling in love with each other.
In this story especially, Suzuki Tsuta's art is achingly beautiful. The dialogue is realistic and genuine. The emotions don't feel forced, save for maybe a few panels that are only distracting because the rest of the story is so subtle and natural. Even the premise is a very simple, slice of life scenario. Shio's grand adventure is that he meets a kind stranger through their mutual hobby of blogging. It's a small tale for a small, exciting segment of their lives.
My only criticism is that, like many of Suzuki Tsuta's other works, I desperately wish this was longer. It only skims the surface of two wonderful characters with complex lives. I want to know so much more about them. But what we are presented with is rewarding and charming, and hoping for more is no reason to pass this one up.

In regards to the uniqueness of the characters, I have to question the implication that Shio is the clear uke. It's a really interesting inversion of the usual dynamic in BL stories. The taller, larger man is the one with the gentle, comforting nature. He's the one secretly pining after the affection of his more assertive, intellectual and cool love interest. Shio is a very assertive character; even despite his uncertainty, he actively pursues Miya, arranging for more time with him, even setting the pace of their romantic relationship. Miya may take the upper hand in the bedroom, but he leaves other important decisions in Shio's hands. If anything, their power hierarchy is very balanced. There's a healthy sense of give and take between both of them. Both of them have emotional vulnerability and hope and trust in each other to guide the other. That's really what drew me into this story; it's so refreshing to read a story that shakes off the usual assumptions of how the characters should behave.

This mangaka for bringing something completely my taste. The cute big dude and the sort of loner-type keeps-to-himself cool second dude.
Amen, my blessings upon this cute tromp of a story.

I love this story!! No, I love all of Suzuki Tsuta's works. They're really awesome and all of them have this fuzzy and warm atmosphere when you read them. And the jokes is so retarded that I kept on smiling when I read the manga. All in all, it's a must read.

This piece was truly interesting due to the unusual uke. Shio was the one that kept the story moving, with his consistent personality. He was depicted as a person with good observational skills, which for once he actually used to understand his partner's feelings. In most mangas, regardless of genre, characters are described as intelligent, talented, good at learning bla meh whatever, so they end up taking the worst most idiotic decisions. Here the uke thinks about his situation and acts in rational way without unnecessary angst.
The seme, on the other hand, was scarcely emphasized, except that he was a nice person. He mostly served as a counterpart to highlight the other lead.
As for the plot, it was pretty much nonexistent, without falling in the PWP pit, the story being character driven.
All in all I highly recommend this piece for the delight of seeing a mature character acting in a mature, almost realistic way.

Man, what a great manga we have here. Seriously, there is not one single thing that I disliked about it. It has all the ingredients: an original plot line for Slice of Life; very good humour; lovely and truly unique characters developed to the needed extent; the right amount of anxiety without bordering the ridiculous; perfect pacing; gorgeous art; and you will weep for more. My one complaint is that it could have been longer, for the sake of my own simple enjoyment.
Pierzing was right to point out the unique quality of this Uke. Although Miya-san is quite the lovely person (and it is not as though he's kind to no one but the person he loves; he's genuinely a good person), Shio thinks and behaves like a genuine person. Okay, so he came to terms with his own sexuality a little too quickly -- I'll grant you that; but even so, he's not the kind to blame his own actions on alcohol or pretend things didn't happen the way they did. Like Mitsuya in Sangen Tonari no Tooi Hito, here we have, again, the kind of insightful, mature, protagonist that guides the reader through and into his own course of action. I loved Shio to pieces, seriously.
Merry Checker is, so far, my favourite from Suzuki-sensei and I'll be re-reading sooner or later, for sure.
P.S: The cover up there makes it seem like Shio is some kind of tsundere; he's not.

This manga has a different uke. One that is actually aware of his surroundings, actually emotionally mature and honest! We need more yaoi characters like this please. I don't care much for the soothing seme but the uke's personality is neatly delved in and you can clearly read his thought processes, understand his actions. It makes me appreciate the ways people naturally behave more.
In short; likable characters, interesting premise and neat storytelling makes this a fine, short read.
