Description

Daisuke is a 23 year-old new schoolteacher. He ends up being put in charge of a 3rd grade elementary school class since the previous teacher quit, and in that class there's a girl who's quite a troublemaker--Rin Kokonoe. You could call her a mesugaki (used to describe a kid that acts more like an adult in some ways), and she's also part tsundere (though more dere than tsun).

Ok, i just want to clarify that i've been giving this manga the benefit of the doubt for the lolicon tendencies and thus far the manga has been pretty entertaining. The teacher, Aoki is a decent guy who cares and the story is pretty interesting so far. But the latest chapter(31) is freaking me out..... I'm starting to get 2nd thoughts.

I wouldn't say the manga is shocking. Look at "Midori No Hibi": a girl grows on a guy's hand. How crazy is that? Anyway, the manga is very cute, and I got a boner a couple of times, but that's OK I guess. Right? Right?!.. Hey, where're you going?

i think that if you can put an open mind about the story..,it's actually funny! i like the humor and mystery behind the heroine and her friends behavior,how they have malicius tendency towards adult.

I have read 30.5 chapters so far, and I own the first 4 japanese volumes.

Lets start by examining WHY this series is so controversial. The main character Rin Konokoe has a crush on Aoki-sensei her Teacher. The problem is less about how she feeels about Aoki and more about how she expresses her affections. Rin is what some people would refer to as precocious. Specifically she approaches Aoki in a sexually inapropriate manner, she does everything she can to make it clear to him that she wants to have a intimate relationship with him.

This is about where most people's brains shut down and they either lose interest or start attacking the premise without knowing the story.

Life imitates art which imitates life. Rin gets the only real molester in the manga incarcerated right at the start of the series. It happens to be her principal, the real irony is this series was dropped from several stations in Japan and censored like crazy by the one that did broadcast it because a real principal was found to be a molester at about the same it was to be aired.

What most people miss is that Aoki really cares about his students. Despite Rin's advances, he focuses on being thier teacher. I can admit that I have seen a few things in the manga so far that probably would shock some people. For instance, Rin has a realy bad habit of kissing Aoki and trying to flash her panties at him, but aside from the principal who wound up in jail right at the start, I have not yet seen an adult act sexually towards any of the children. Anything that does happen is initiated by Rin and is always turned down.

There are definitely cultural elements that will confuse non-japanese, but this is an excellent series that should not be over looked because of the surface vineer.

All the criticism directed at this series that I have heard and read so far comes from the same mindset that thinks the human body and sexuality are "dirty", those individuals will see things there that do not exist. As a result our cultural exposure is more limited because that very vocal minority usually tries to ban what they do not want to read themselves

The unfortunate thing is there is not a reasonable distribution method available to provide manga to adults when the censors decide to be our moral guide.

I have read thousands of manga, but this series is one of my favorite. Don't judge this book by it's cover or on peoples comments alone. Read it with an open mind and decide for yourself. I think it's funny and in a quirky way somewhat romantic. Poor Aoki actually has a thing for a fellow teacher who is "considerably well endowed", but every time they almost wind up together, in comes Rin who spoils it all.

It is worth the time to really read it.

Always Cute, often Funny, very Pervy, and sometimes Deep?

I expected cute, funny, and pervy, but I was surprised to see that there is some depth to it. I look forward those dramatic issues to be addressed amid some more over the top loli-humor. The scene with the caligraphy is a spit take waiting to happen. Do be wary of beverages while reading.

One of the things that made me want to learn Japanese was a Dating Sim game called Peace@Pieces. As I found out its more or less the same as this manga here. It doesn't make me feel awkward much except at the point in the 4th Volume at the end where the guardian-brother of the heroine had some nasty thoughts about the girl's breast. Since its a manga and not real its actually a bit refreshing since ofcourse it stays ecchi and doesn;t turn out hentai. I can tolerate a shy teacher that is teased by one of his students. The bad would be the teacher trying to do things. Ofcourse since I am not in the shoes of a teacher and will never be I can't comment much. Overall at least up to the 4th Volume the manga stays funny. I am looking forward to see what will happen in the continue. I am guessing since the 3rd school year was 3 volumes the other will be 3 each too so in total 12 volumes. It will be really interesting to see how this whole thing goes but I hope the ending will not be one of the "usual" things that I am already imagining. Also I wonder if the anime will be as good as the manga =3 Dats all I have to say ^^

Its been a while since I even tried to even read this. I did like the concept of the manga, a story of a girl that needs to be helped and a really kind teacher that she was lucky enough to meet. My problem is not the story itself, but more like the drawings, that unlike the anime that seems to keep the ecchiness to a normal level, as the manga is tagged right, this one is mature. I will try to once more read it again, but I am sure that this manga, like many manga, are infested with drawings that ruin the story for me.

Plot/Story:-
Kodomo no Jikan is about Daisuke Aoki, a new schoolteacher to a bunch of 3rd Graders in elementary school. Due to his inexperience he's having trouble with the kids but there's one girl in particular he's finding hard to control and that's because she got a huge crush on him .

Artwork:-
This is a lolicon manga so it's full of cute little girls and all the character designs suit it perfectly. It just lacks some detail with the rest.

Final Thoughts:-
This turns out to be a surprisingly hilarious and well-written comedy that somewhat reminds me of the anime GTO. The perverted jokes are completely original yet I didn't rate it any higher because of the awkward feeling I got after each joke. Something is just not right when you have 3rd Grade girls talking about having sex. ^_^

Great despite theme

Yes the loli fanservice is disturbing but the manga overall is great. The whole 3rd (or now 4th grader) going after the teacher and being very adult is pretty funny but there are also other themes that make this interesting. You've got a lesbian child, a child who has serious emotional issues, a child who was abandoned by their father and mother dies when the child is at a young age, a guardian who experiences similar issues during his childhood as one of the emotional children and two other teachers who bring different moods with their different personality (a very positive person vs a very hard headed negative person).

Ok I have reached chapter 33. This is officially a must read. If you thought the series was controversial in the earlier stages oh buddy you have to keep reading. And I am not saying this because it because of the fanservice. The fanservice doesn't even take the cake of the recent events!

I reviewed Kodomo no Jikan negatively years back, it used to make me uncomfortable. I have now gone completely desensitized to loli fan-service thanks to Ore no Imouto, Tomodachi, Umi no Misaki, Toradora!, Lotte no Omocha, IO, Denpa Onna, Mayo Chiki, Yuria 100 Shiki, My Balls, and so on and so on (every damn "love" story nowadays has a loli in it).

I still read it to this day, it's a great "teenage love story" with a "taboo twist" to make it interesting, that is all.
