no no no... this it the first time i have written a comment and on a manga i enjoyed till last 10 chapters of it. ı certainly cannot believe in it!!! the problem is not because it -lets say- semi-incestous. It really is unbelievable. everything, but everyting was fine, the drawings, the plot and the characters but the ending... even i cant take it.
last ten chapters were only written clearly for the sake of an "interesting" ending and which is a total cliche. emotional switch was not displayed at all and the reasons or desires are not there for between those two. the unique manga just becomes a total cliche at the end.
i am so dissapointed that i cant even write a useful comment. all i can say that mangaka betrayed her own creation and murdered it.
ps: and i really do not critise it because of morality. oh goodness... i am just so pissed of with this manga. i totally regret the time i spent on this manga just to be dissappointed this much
ps2: please do add a category as incestous so that we know beforehand if we dont want to read such ones.

It's really fucking creepy just how many people are 100% accepting or LOOKED FORWARD TO the ending that we got. You are them, the anime fans that cause everyone to hate anime fans. The creeps. The pedophiles. The incels with no actual social ability and think that any sort of relationship between a parent and child is okay. Anyone who agrees with this ass-pull M. Night Shyamalan WHAT A TWEEST! ending probably has sadbrains and a distinct lack of friends who aren't creepy fucks.
The ending was not planned. This is extremely obvious if you look at Daikichi's reaction to looking at the medical notes at the beginning, no reaction yet he supposedly "knew all along" that she wasn't blood related. It's ham-fisted in the extreme and all of the characters began acting like Bizarro versions of themselves at the beginning of the finale storyline.
It's also really fucking hilarious reading these comments and seeing so much "if you look at it with an open mind" and "people who have closed minds hate this ending" bullshit. No. It is not "looking at it with an open mind", that is pathetic self-cheerleading in an attempt to not look so goddamn socially retarded and ethically dubious. The internet giving a medium for scum such as those who think raising a young child and then marrying them later is okay, is the worst thing about this connectedness.

About the ending:
I'm kinda surprised, people on this site are kinda close minded. If you are like that, you won't like the ending. But this is manga, you know, it's made by japanese, and mangaka are even more... extraordinary. If you are manga fan you should be OK with this kind of stuff, that's why I'm surprised.
Personally I think that weird stuff that doesn't happen (often) in real life is what makes a manga special, as opposed to movies/books/real life. A cliche ending would have been too ordinary for me, and I would have forgotten this manga in a couple of months. But now, well now I'll really remember Usagi Drop as a special title.
The feelings behind the ending, I think, are too complex to be explained, you have to be able to understand it for yourself to see why this is special. And I'm not a

Well the story ends how I want and how I knew. The story is really good and no hard feelings on it, unless you are a prejudged person. Still its true some pairing was more aceptable than the ones in the end for example even I dont like Kouki with Rin I like he with another girl that didnt happend. The history is better if you read it only to pass the time. And let it like its a fictional. Even still I had seem this in real life happening more than you can imagine. I dont support persons raising kids being single unless is a special situation like this, and for avoid problems that is why exist orphanages.

Ok, before you consider picking this volume, let me tell you this. She won't end up with the guy that EVERYONE thought she'll end up with and you'll see signs that she'll like someone that NO ONE expected her to fall in love with. So you can read the first 6 or 7 volumes and then feel free to drop it if you see the signs in order to save yourself. But if you are open minded, then I encourage you to read till the end.
Overall, I like it. I thought I'd compare to Aishiteruze Baby, but none cross my mind as I read the entire series. The only difference is that there will be a timeskip and you'll see her doing stuff like a normal high school girl. This makes me kind of sad because I would like more focus till the end of Rin's young childhood and laugh at the sweet innocent moments that the bachelor have to deal with.
The storyplot.....is not as what I thought. The truth about Rin's parents (with some shocking twist toward the end) was totally unexpected. So you can saw the twists is what blew my mind away.
Character development is totally a 10. To see Rin grow up and Kouki (the childhood friend) grow up and see how Rin develop throughout the years was heartwarming. It was enjoyable to see Daikichi and Rin interacting with each other, along with Daikichi's worries over Rin's well being. I'm sure everyone like me liked the warm fuzzy feeling between them both, to see a bachalor learning to raise a kid, who was being well mature for her age. Also to add in Kouki to bring some chaos into their life.
The art...I'm a sucker for simply linedrawings. The beauty of it is that it looks simply, yet beautiful at the same time. For other people, they probably rather have overload of screentones to fill up the entire page.
The ending is pretty unexpected, but you'll slowly see some signs to it that you thought it was for another reason. While I thought I would hate the series and write some sort of hate review, I'm surprised I felt a bit indifferent. What I would like to know why the artist did something crazy like this in order to enrage more than half her fans like this (after scrolling through MU reviews)
Finally, to quote pcxxy since this really cracks me up for some reason: "ps: to single 30-yr old bachelors out there, please don't go adopt a 6-yr old girl after reading this series hoping for something to happen after some 10 years."

hmm where should i begin...
first i bumped into an anime preview by accident, got caught by gorgeous artwork and the imba-kawaii-ness of Rin chan, and then started watching the anime. It gave me a super big heartfelt fuzzy wuzzy feeling and i finished the 7 episodes in a flash. well after that i was engulfed by my cravings and i plowed through the 56 chapters in a flash.
anyways, like many, i agree that the story is pure, innocent and beautiful, until the time skip.
after that, i still had my hopes up for Dai + Kouki's mom and the 2 childhood friends together. what turns out instead was i guess somewhat of a complete surprise.
i understand how the outcome appears disturbing or sickening to some people. however, i think that the author is aiming to carefully explore something out of the norm, something largely considered as taboo in today's society. the thing i really liked is how every bit is unveiled slowly and the story is carefully and well paced. in a way,
i somehow anticipated that Rin's feelings may have turned out this way (no i'm not some disgusting pedophilic otaku). Rin is a quiet girl but even at the age of 6 she has at times the maturity of an adult. Also, even right from the beginning, Rin has never throughout regarded Daikichi as her father (though it's slightly hard to believe), but as somebody she lives with, cares of, and shelters from. She also refuses to take his surname and claims that daikichi is daikichi.
It seems that their warm, caring and loving feelings have matured over the years to something so complex that's beyond the what words can describe. perhaps you can say that it's a father-complex, perhaps it's gratitude for raising her, perhaps it's love - there's no longer a clear line that distinguishes all these..
anyhows, it was a very enjoyable read, and the story beautiful in its own ways. The series left me with a warm yet a little sour feeling which i still can't seem to explain.
ps: to single 30-yr old bachelors out there, please don't go adopt a 6-yr old girl after reading this series hoping for something to happen after some 10 years.
final remark: i can't wait for - usagi drop bangaihen - will it be another time skip (ugh.. 50 yr old with a 26 yr old + a child)? or will this wrap up the seemingly rushed ending?

And Excelent manga that I can recomend whiout any problem.
The art is not that good, but it works well in what it matters, transmit feelings and emotions.
For me, the most enjoyable part of the manga itself is the characters. Dont get me wrong, the history si great, but you can feel the happiness and pains of Rin and Daikishi, and even secondary characters have their own 'world' and a feeling in itself.
Personal recomendation though, for some, the manga can be divided betwen 2 parts:
The first 4 volumes That deal with Daikishi (30 years old single man) rising Rin (a 6-7 years old girl) Witch is heart warming (and my favorite, I hopped it lasted 1 or 2 volumes more)
The second part from volume 4 to 9 is about the grown up rin since her 16-18 years, its nice, but the topics of the history change, from adapting and rising rin, to the quest of Rin to understand her own feelings, origins and her future. (this part in my opinion si more josei like, not bad at all, I liked it, but its diferent)
Word of advice: The end, if you read the manga very carefuly, you can guess it, but still is not so easy to take, be careful.
The autor did a really good job with the characters, history and even the topics, trutfuly I spilled one or two tears. Read it. You will feel 'Damn! it ended!' Like me

It's a very good manga- It has charming art and characters, a good and cute plot and overall good development....until the end. After the time skip it seemed to be doing fine for the first chapters- but then...BAM...that ending (a cliche ending would have been fine with such a likeable manga). I mean, I'm sure some people won't see what's wrong with it, but it's seriously... inappropriate, to say the least. However, it still a really good manga until that point, so anyone should give it a try AND stop before the time gap- then you can just imagine any ending you want.

um like most people i really like the first 50 chapters or whatever especially the ones before the time skip. but what the hell was with the end?
i don't understand, i wasn't even considering that an option at all. i actually feel sick to my stomach. i don't have any problems with age gaps... even though this one is to large for my taste. i have a problem with the fact that he raised her as a daughter and still thinks of her as a daughter. he is a good parent this should not happen. and in real life rin would have never fallen in love with daikichi. I mean yeah a jealous/selfish child is normal wanting to keep the parent all to themselves. but you don't fall in love with your guardian. not when the circumstances are as normal and healthy as theirs was at least till she turned 16. uuuuuh i didnt have a problem with ai-hime because she started living with the person when she was 16, but this is wrong i don't understand why such a pure story had to be twisted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cliche would have been fine, anything would have been fine. this was not fine. it would have been better with no romance at all. can you even call this romance?! i was hoping till the very last page that it would show rin 7 years later married with a kid to someone else completely, and admitting that the whole thing was just a misunderstanding of her feelings for her "father".
you know it would have been really fun for Rin to fall in love with a cool young teacher and have Daikichi be all scary and protective parent like. why couldn't it be like that"
