Going home for his grandfather's funeral, thirty-year-old bachelor Daikichi is floored to discover that the old man had an illegitimate child with a younger lover! The rest of his family is equally shocked and embarrassed by this surprise development, and not one of them wants anything to do with the silent little girl, Rin. In a fit of angry spontaneity, Daikichi decides to take her in himself! But will living with this overgrown teenager of man help Rin come out of her shell? This manga raised many good questions such as: What is a family, what is love, what is bond, what is role, what is life. And the mangaka deliver it pretty well but the 2nd half is a little bit rush. I think it could be better if its longer but overall I like this manga a lot. But it seems like everyone have a problem with the 2nd half and the ending of the series. When I first read this manga I already know that the ending is possible. As the story goes there're many hints that show up until to the ending. If you taking into account of the characters feelings, how they act, how they think, what is their habit, what is their reaction to the question, why they refuse/accept their own feelings, why they make that decision, etc. The ending, the conclusion is, it's make sense, very logical and clear as how and why it happened. It's a very good ending.

If you like a manga that go in depth about relationship/connection/bond/interaction between people, how people think and the like, you probably like this manga and I definitely recommend this manga. But if you are the kind of people that can't deal when people with different/same gender, age, role, that kind of things getting into relationship, always expect something to go your way, mentally weak, or/and narrow-minded, then don't read this manga it's not suit you at all but if you're open-minded person then go for it.

At first...I liked it. I really did... but....
then...last ten or so chapters...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF??!!

since i found out that they are going to end up together... ugh. seriously... he's been like her dad...all the time... it's like being with your own father... and that's just wrong. I don't understand why the author pushed such a cliché ending... >_> wHAT WAS WRONG ABOUT STAYING FATHER AND A CHILD??? seriously. I am disappointed...

It is one of those manga that were really nice, but ending destroyed it for me irreparably...Pity. >.<

Don't... Just don't.

What starts off as a cute, promising, heartwarming tale deteriorates RAPIDLY once this manga hits its final volumes - after the timeskip. So if you do plan on picking this up, just read up to there. Please. Save yourself the gross-out that comes once you close the last page of this strange, strange story.

When i read the first chapter the first thing i thought of is Aishiteruze Baby, only more mature and with less romance as a male reader i can appreciate this time of work as well it something different to read rather then all the other mindless rubbish out there nowadays. if your looking for a heart warming piece don't look any further this one is for keeps.

Good enough for an age gap story.

I am fond of a large age gap romance and Usagi Drop is the most frequent title in those recommended manga lists. To my surprise, there was no romantic scene in this manga at all. The first half of the story was cute and funny while the second half was very heartwarming to me

once Rin said she wanted to bear Daikichi's child. And Daikichi neither accepted nor rejected her in the end!

Although many readers gave negative comments for the ending, I found it lovely. It was certainly awkward when a parent-and-child relationship turned into man-and-woman romance, but it was possible in such circumstances. It was kinda disappointing that both the animation and the movie was cut short and never ran to the end as in manga's version.

To me, Usagi drop was just a light reading with too many harsh reviews compared to Suna no Shiro and 18-rated Hogosha Shikkaku. - Issen o Koeta Yoru, which aimed at adults.

I do not understand the bad comments

To say that the manga is bad and not to read it is a lack of respect for the author because the end does not have any more I advise you to read the manga and watch the anime and not to forget that it is a fiction before saying that it's bad because it does not go in your moral values
I find the end unique and different from what we can usually see act of courage for the author.
For my part I liked the times when the girl is a child and I found romance when the girl grows up quite boring becaus i dont like banality shoujo but the end is diffrent.
