The Breaker

Description

The new English teacher, Chun-Woo, is not your ordinary teacher. Shioon, a victim of constant bullying, unexpectedly witnesses Chun-Woo's fighting prowess, and begs him to make him his disciple. Chun-Woo claims he can teach Shioon only if he is truly determined, and Shioon must put his life on the line to prove it. It turns out, however, that Chun-Woo and his powers are more than meets the eye. Shioon makes a grand entrance into the Murim (the hidden world of martial arts), and he is about to be taught by the best there is!

The Breaker series has 2 parts, of which "The Breaker" is Part 1 (vol 1-10) and "The Breaker: New Waves" is Part 2.

I hate this manhwa so much!
I can't sleep, can't do my homework. I even forget to eat.
All I've done all day is sit here and read this manhwa.
Yet even after racing through 9+ volumes, I've still not had enough. What the heck?
And why does every chapter end on a frigging cliff-hanger?
I won't be able to breathe properly until the next scanlation is out.
What have you done to me, you stupid manhwa?!

This is a really good Manhwa. The pacing is extremely well done, things go slowly, but steadily develop. It doesn't feel rushed, yet every chapter is interesting and pulls you in deeper in the intricate world the authors are creating.

The drawings are especially nice, with detailed characters and unique facial expressionsmatched with some really unique personalities.
This is a definite recommendation to any one who knows how to apreciate good manhwas.

Well seeing as I have yet to read a manwha that dissapoints this is no exception. This is a great story, while the Lead is a bit annoying at the start he becomes a total bad ass later on. This char is super Gar ^.^ just the way I like em.

I discovered this manhwa a long while back and i was instantly hooked. I can confidently say its one of the best i've read so far. The art work is great and the fight scenes kick ass. The protagonist does get on your nerves because he is such a wimp but as the manhwa goes on he becomes more assereted in himself. The story line is a intiguing and all in all this manga deserves a rating of 10

I think this is one of the better manhwas out there at the moment. I must agree that the wimpy student grates on your nerves but as the story develops he starts to grow on you. My opinion is that it can be compared to a mix of Veritas and Kenichi with it coming out probably better than both.

Compared to Veritas I believe the story line is better and it does a good job of leaving a large part of plot unknown without confusing the audience as to what the heck is going on. Don't get me wrong because I love Veritas too.

The art is great and the characters are still developing and so far in a good way I think.

i can't stand the male lead (i.e. the wimpy student). he seriously has no sense of debt and gratitude and is way too pushy in trying to get what he wants from the teacher. yes, i can understand why he would want to learn martial arts to defend himself and protect the girl, but if placed in the shoes of the teacher and faced with Shiwoon's ridiculous actions (diving into the river? getting healed by the teacher and then calling him out early in the morning to teach him martial arts? blackmailing him in the first place?), I would totally blow him off. not to mention shiwoon really is a class A loser.

Apart from that, none of the characters are truly likable, which usually isn't the case in manga that i appreciate. I've already aired my beef with the lead, but the health teacher isn't much better, she's basically a very scheming and manipulative cough female dog cough. The teacher who always gets ditched at dates is just an airhead, and the nine dragons teacher, while he does have a huge coolness factor, gets messed around with too much by the student/health teacher etc

Finally, I really didn't like the deus ex machina that was introduced in the form of the miracle pill that I'm sure will make the ridiculously weak shiwoon able to practice martial arts in the future.

Read Veritas instead, it's a somewhat similar manhwa with a much better lead character who has guts, character and perseverance and is actually somewhat likeable

Now, finally, we start to see a little strength from the kid, instead of always having him beat up and the teacher showing off. I enjoyed this and it was a good read and I'm looking forward to it a lot now. I like to see what happens to the kid and I hope he has some powers no one knew.

i feel like this more compares to History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. Weak ass character wants to become strong, finds master (pretty much 9 masters in one) then starts to get strong.
I'm really liking it though, i think it will turn out a lot more interesting than HSDK personally, a lot more fighting and action? 😀

i hope people will stop making comparison between this and GTO especially whereby the begining of the story is concerned.
If a comparison to be made this is more along the lines of veristas.
The manga has a nice art,wimpy protagonist(but not unlikeable as later chapter he grows some backbone), cool martial arts teacher and alot of other secrets to be revealed. Nonetheless when reading this you have to bare in mind that its a shounen so it has all the goodies and flaws of a shounen manga.
As for me its worth the read, thanx to kmts for the release and ill continue waiting for newer chapters

At first i was extremely annoyed with another wimpy main character added to world but then it sorta started to grow on me. the art ain't bad and the story is funny but at the same time serious, actually its more like ridiculous but hey not bad overall, not a favorite but still good
