too many teenage girls drooling over a 33 year old man

This is definitely a psuedo harem. 🤦😑

I know, I know that MC "doesn't care" about the girls in that way. He's not stringing anyone along. He's not even interested in his official fiancée...but that's damn near exactly the same as every other harem MC.

The bigger problem is we have to read all of these pointless girls' even more pointless POVs. None of them are interesting after they developed crushes on MC or started finding him "interesting".

The author or artist could have made the first chick, Epene/Epherene(?), the girl with silver hair, a guy and literally NOTHING would be affected. But nah, it had to be a girl.

The same with Sylvia, Epherene's rival, and Ganesha(?), the redheaded, twin pigtailed girl who seems to be some kind of mercenary/information broker/"adventurer" criminal. Making them men would have zero impact on the story.

And dear gods but Juli/Yuli, MC's fiancée, is an insufferable bitch. I mean, yes, she has a right to feel the way she does considering everything the game character did to her before MC took over the game character's body, but at the same time she acts so high and mighty, constantly demanding shit. Speak like a normal person, damn.

She's such a cool character outside of her interaction with the MC. She has her own motivations and wants that has nothing to do with MC. Yet, when she's around MC, she (and every single teenage girl in this thing) barely rubs two brain cells together and acts all of 13 yrs old.

Ugh. As a long-time reader of Otome Isekai no other word triggers me as much as harem (reverse harem in OI cases) and "interesting". In OI "interesting" is shorthand for the men to NOT develop any kind of personality except to simp over one woman.🙄😒

It's the exact same problem in this story and other stories with this premise. The girls lose whatever individuality and motivation and agency they had once they start obsessing over MC.

And of course the sister

is not blood-related to MC. Can't have that potential love interest route cut off due to inbreeding!🤮 Like, artist and author-nim, why are you making MC's sister blush and stammer when MC's half naked in the training room?! The fuck?

Oh, waaaow, all the good looking guys are MC's rival or envious of him. I might as well be reading those idiotic Not Like Other (Guys) Girls otome isekai with all the bitches coming after the female MC at this point. The jealousy and cattiness in these kinds of shonen/seinen stories are comparable to the shojo/josei ones.

Please read The Player Hides His Past instead if, like me, you're looking for an MC who is also a very cool, calm, competent and deadly aristocrat with a very elegant flair and who hunts demons because it's their family's responsibility but without the gross harem vibes.

I desperately wish there are more stories with similar MCs that have more men (that are equally good looking AND powerful) to balance out the immature estrogen poisoning here.

EDIT:

Oh, for fuck's sakes, MC's actual real life ex girlfriend got isekaid into a tween's body. Ex-girlfriend is NOT over MC despite moving on to a new man. Now MC has an actual loli potential love interest.

see, the original novel this manhwa is adapted from is uhmmm well... lets just say it started out amazing then turned into a trainwreck. So im VERY worried about how this manwha is gonna turn out. If it follows the plot of the latter half of the novel, this too will turn into a disaster 💀. im gonna hold off on reading this until then. wouldnt wanna waste my time.

theres too much to criticise about the og novel, so i suggest u find it's page on novelupdates and read the detailed reviews there to see what i mean. Its under the name "A Villain’s Will to Survive"

Amazing all around

It's been a while since a manhwa had such a death hold on me. The main plot isn't that different from other reincarnation series, but the writing and art rockets it into greatness.

Broken into key points:

Art: 8.5/10 Not breathtakingly beautiful, but it's extremely consistent and the paneling/style is great on the eyes and very creative at times. The artist has done an extremely good job at realizing the ideas of the original novel. Character designs look good and are creative enough to be easily recognizable.

Writing: 9/10 Novel adaptations are usually going to be good, since the original work has to be decent enough to warrant turning it into a manhwa. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that it's great.

The MC is realistic and doesn't stick to any extreme archetypes, while continuously developing his personality as the story progresses. Supporting and side characters get attention too, being treated just as well in terms of writing quality.

Meanwhile, the pacing is great and the plot develops well enough to keep a grip on the reader.

So far, one of the best reincarnation manhwa I've read. If it maintains the same quality throughout the entirety of its course, it will 100% be a must read. I regret finding it so soon because it doesn't have that many chapters by the time of writing this review (36).
