Note about the art work
by jnatsumi

The art work changes around chapter 52.

The style of the first artist is more beautiful, in my opinion; it had a shiny, hazy, and chiseled quality to it. The second style is... basic; big eyed, slightly out of proportion on some areas, and just average. The change in art work is disappointing. The girls aren't as beautiful. The guys aren't as hot. I really think it affected the chemistry we see between FL and ML. It almost made me want to drop it altogether.

The saving grace is that the second style improves as the story drags on.

Mary Sue complains about misogyny BECAUSE she's a Mary Sue

The author really has some screws lose. Our FL is literally the only person who can do something only men can because she's a **special** Mary Sue. If she wasn't **special** she would never be able to compete with men. At least make it believable by adding some non **special** females that also qualified. So it makes zero sense when this FL constantly whines about misogyny, when the only reason she's able to stand on equal grounds with men is that she is LITERALLY a

God/demigod
.

Author is good at world building. Other than this constant whining, this story isn't a bad read.

Why is everyone having the art?

I get want your all saying about preferring the original artstyle. It's not that I don't appreciate all the artists of this manhwa not personally I didn't realise the at style had even changed until I read the comments on a website and confirmed it for myself, because I was so interested in the plot of the story. Looking back yess the art was beautiful especially the eyes, but the art style now isn't as bad as some of you all make it out to be.If I hadn't found this become the art style changed I would have literally not read it because of how some comments were Well it's your opinions and I can't change it and his is my opinion so....

Explosion of exposition

Hmm, I don't really now what to say. I guess it's fine.? It's by no means the best in its genre but it's good enough to pass the time. I liked the characters even though the ML gave some serious yandere ish vibes. I don't find the story itself very compelling. I don't care about any of the characters' motivation since I can't understand it in the first place. The thing that irks me the most though is how there is an explosion of exposition every 2 chapters. I get that you're proud of the world you created and you want the readers to know about it but honestly, it's very annoying combing through mountains of expositions with barely any plot advancement. Just tell us what we need to know or better yet show it, instead of having a bunch of characters literally tell us everything. The exposition itself is very convoluted, I remember mana being the subject of atleast two different expositions and I still don't get it.

This is fantastic

I heard a bit about this going in, so I was steeling myself for the change in season 2. Honestly though, I don't think I would have noticed any change in the art at all had it not been called out in chapter comments. I definitely thought that the change was going to be worse than it was, and had the second artist done the entire story, it would have been fine. The storyline does somewhat take a turn in the later chapters (50+), but I don't feel like it's a bad turn, just a change - in fact, I didn't entirely enjoy season 1 because it was very confusing at some points with all the foreshadowing. Season 2 has a much more standard/straightforward plotline, which some people don't like, but it's also easier to follow.

Anyway, I'm mostly here to gush about the protagonist. In the first 50 chapters or so, I was really worried that, as another viewer commented, the MC would become a kind of "supposedly strong damsel in distress", who's strong on paper, but always loses to the ML. After she begins interacting more with the ML, though, I heaved a sigh of relief - FL is awesome. She's technically not as scary or good at swordfighting as he is, but honestly, she's coming out top in all their non-fighting interactions and keeps winning arguments and taking the leadership role in things. As of where I am (chapter 94+), they pretty much work together as equals and she's as much of a hardass as he is.

Art and story went downhill
by kira6

The artist changed after season 2 (chapter 54), and everything went downhill from there. The art and story in the beginning was mysterious, promising, and compelled me to find out more. The plot itself could be very dense sometimes as it was trying to weave in so much mythological and historical mumbo jumbo from the get-go, but I waded through it because a) I'm a sucker for reincarnation stories and wanted to see how the MC would change and b) the art was beautiful.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Besides learning how to fight at an earlier age, she barely changed after reincarnation. What changed instead was everything around her as somehow everyone that was important in her first life suddenly started going to the same school at the same time. And surprise, surprise they all become fast friends. But I was willing to overlook that, because a) I was still interested in how she could change her future and b) the art was still beautiful.
But goddamn how could both the story AND art go downhill at the same time. After the original artist left, the art went from complex, beautiful characters and detailed backgrounds to square robots with backgrounds that look like those fake sets on television shows. Everything from their faces to anatomy started looking really awkward. After starting with such beautiful artwork, it was such a letdown. Like being handed a treat and then getting the good ol' bait n' switch after getting invested in the treat. But if the rumors are true and the original artist left because of dissatisfaction with the story itself, I could definitely understand why. The story started adding more and more characters and opening up new subplots while only marginally advancing the main plotline. Even after 94 chapters they have only barely scratched the surface of the main plotline, and the art only continues to decline. Perhaps it will improve in the future, but I will be dropping it for now. It's not a bad story per se, but I am simply disappointed due to the lost potential to be great.

Ianna (female MC) is actually "stronger" than Arhad (male love interest)
by skawaii

Rating: 10.0 / 10.0
Most of these reviews are bashing Ianna or backhandedly complimenting Ianna when I think Ianna is honestly a breath of fresh air in these sexist webtoons and mangas. She is the cool badass that she is known for all while keeping her big heart and compassion at the forefront of everything she does--which contrasts with Arhad who has always been against her compassionate ways. (Honestly, I think he's jealous she gives her love and attention elsewhere.) She doesn't have to cry to be vulnerable and relatable. Her anger and cynicism are what make her "human" enough and extremely relatable. Even though she's cynical, she still amazes me with how protective she is of innocent people/kids, and how much she wants to nurture Arhad and her friends. Although I would never cast her as the most nurturing woman ever as women are typically known for for centuries in every culture, but she is honestly repping her version of "the Divine Feminine" at its best. I honestly don't give two hoots about her being extremely beautiful and extremely voluptuous because she can be all those stereotypically feminine things while doing all those stereotypically masculine things. She can absolutely be feminist and feminine.

She may not be 100% as physically strong and brutal as Arhad. If Arhad is #1 in everything physical, then Ianna is #2 in everything physical. However, Ianna's strength is more well-rounded than Arhad's. Her invisible strengths (mental and emotional strengths) rival Arhad's and in many of these cases she trumps Arhad. Unless you understand the true strength of keeping a big compassionate heart in a cruel merciless world, then you will never appreciate the entirety of Ianna's "strength." She is every bit the best swords-woman that no one can even stand toe to toe with, but she is also every bit a powerful woman on the inside. She is also the only one who can manipulate Arhad (ch. 85 and after shows this very well).

I seriously needed this series because I have been looking for a series that shows women can do everything a man can do and MORE. She doesn't have to sacrifice her femininity (ditching the voluptuous and romantic figure for a waifish and boyish figure; becoming an emotionless and heartless sociopath instead of keeping her emotions and compassion). She proves that the feminine is beautiful, great, and strong.

a little disappointing

She's so cool, so strong, so cold-blooded that...she's hard to like. I'm about 30 chapters in and still waiting to feel something more than mild interest in the MC. She's too perfect. Nothing ever trips her up or makes her come across as a little more human to the audience (with the exception of the single inexplicable tear in ch 15). I typically hate the super-cold overly perfect characters (though they're usually male unlike here), so it's a struggle to like the MC. I'm not saying she shouldn't be badass or cool. It'd just be nice if the author rounded her out a little. She doesn't need to come across as weak to the other characters, just show us the readers some of her human sides.

A gem

Its a shame that Ohkimch didnt get the opportunity to read much further into the story. While it begins with the main female lead being humbled by the male lead, from there onwards its very far from a female who is "below" the male.

This is the first manga/webtoon I have had the enjoyment of reading that the female doesn't suffer from a stupid characteristic. She's mentally strong, doesn't regret her decisions, she doesn't speak too much, get too emotional or attached. She's incredibly cool and at every step, she takes things in her stride.

At the current chapters (81) I honestly feel like Arhad has seriously sacrificed a lot to get her on his side, and his life is very difficult however he doesn't look like someone who has easily gotten Ianna. In fact the amount of effort is astounding for this girl! Who by no means is a disapointment! She is full of courage, cold blood and a rational mind! Heck, reading it I am amazed how well balanced and head strong she is WITHOUT the typical troupe of stupid - like running head long without thinking. She definitely thinks her plans out, and has a back up, she's doesn't start a fight she isn't certain (or near certain) to win.

I would, in my humble opinion suggest you all to give this a go. After about chapter 10, you'll love her. And the side characters are all very important people for the future, definitely not mindless npc's! Not only that, you get to see the lead a total of 3 times in very brief moments by the time you get to chapter 60.

Gag

This is too obviously created with the hetmale gaze in mind for a “shoujo” or “josei”.
From the female MC’s unstable characterization to her physical appearance, it’s all very For Men, despite the shoujo premise.

The MC is drawn with exaggerated curves reminiscent of an ecchi shounen/seinen despite being underage. The most noticeably over-sexualized panel came from a scene where she was sword-training and holding a pose impractical for human joints in general, much less in combat.

Not to mention. This series also suffers from the “The Man Must Be Better” syndrome of strong female stories. That is to say, it’s yet another in a long, long list of series in which strong/smart female characters are humbled, manipulated, and/or mentored by the even stronger/smarter male love interest. It’s a bit off an offshoot of the Damsel in Distress trope, but worse bc it allows storylines w misogynistic content to masquerade as fem-friendly.

The strong fem lead can be stronger than random other side characters that are male, but heavens forbid she best her love interest(s) in any way. Nope. Power of the d**k. Man must always be Better. Smh.

Anyway, this was painful to try to read — would much rather stick with Man Who Cleans Makeup or True Beauty for “shoujo” webtoons, & Gosu or The Scholar’s Reincarnation for my male-oriented webtoons. The fem characterization is somehow better in both of those last two than this series despite being more blatantly for men.
